Was looking at the Dagger Drifter vs Perception Minnow. Heard that the Australis Bass's built is not the best compared with the above two.
Also heard that the Dagger Drifter is a better product... but both very very similar... what does everyone think?

I use a Perception Acadia, i find it good in the bay, and in patto river etc
Havn''t used it much but am considering selling it so if i decide to i'll let you know if you would like (its less than 6months old)
reason i am thinking about a new boat and the money will help with debt :)
Still if i can manage it i'll keep it

no, the arcadia is too long and cost much more than what i am wanting due to the size of my car and storage space in the garage. thanks anyway
as i said, i have narrowed it down to Dagger Drifter and Perception Minnow
cheers.

no worries
(just as a side note, i have a small honda and its easy to move about, my mate has the minnow. Mine is about 20Kg's so its easy to get on the roof etc. I have a jazz and ther taller than most small cars.)
storage is a pain :)
i go into the bay alot so the length is good keeps me more on track, faster and more stable i found. (i also paddle distance - non fishing)
best of luck!

I currentley have a Bass went through your dilemma of choosing a Yak not so long ago
Chose the Bass on 2 reasons when it come down to it 1 being price around $200 cheaper than the others I looked at (Minnow,Old Town) the other is that it has a higher weight carrying capacity
The only downside of it is Tracking it'll pull either way when you are on the glide you can fix this by fitting a small skeg but I've grown accustomed to it and find it handy for fish fighting
Its a great little craft recommend it to anyone and best of all its Australian the others may be made here as well but a good part of the profit would undoubtabley go back to the yanks
nb;get the best paddle you can afford

just went a saw the perception minnow in real life for the first time... i am a bit disappointed at the construction/detailing. the foot rest is small, that rod for rigidity is all very flimsy, but the most disappointing is the dodgy floatation aid (ie, loose piece of ordinary polystyrene foam) at the ends.
the best thing about it is how light it is.
again... the question continues, anyone know anything about the dagger drifter vs the perception minnow (or even the australis bass)
cheers

I have a double minnow which is fantastic!. The seat moves back when there is only one person in it and is almost as easy to paddle as my sit on top. It also tracks very well, which may be a result of the extra length.
I dont know anything about the Dagger except that you can probably test paddle one from Canoes Plus in Kew. They usually have stock of trade-ins, but this time of year you may struggle.
Good luck with whichever one you chose, you'll have a blast in it under the Docklands and in the Yarra.
Shoey.

Check out previous post's from 'Ol Slab Sides'. He posted pics of his minnow, seems happy with it.

actually, a double is also what i am considering.. i was thinking of either getting 2 small ones or 1 double for myself and my partner.
the reason i would want 2 small ones is because i thought that gives us the ability to go up smaller rivers etc plus we won't ruin our relationship by having a bit of automomy.

if you are considerring one or the other I'd go the double. I've used both and the double seems to track better, more room(by yourself). I dont think you would have any trouble getting it anywhere you can get a single.
It is cramped when you have 2 people in it. My brother in law and I go under the Docks regularly an it gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours. On my own no problem.

nah, i think i will settle for the dagger drifter.
besides, the trading post option is only about 100 bucks cheaper than a new one.
