But missed the Quinella.
Tom and I went out to some new water this morning hoping to land one of those beautiful green fish, but that was not to be. We did however land the three other major freshwater natives, Bass, Yellowbelly and Silver perch.
Kicked off the morning nice and early, casting around and heading upstream from our launch point, but only made it about 150m before we hit a monster log jam... after getting the yaks over it and praying big time there wasn't anymore of them we finally hit the good water, within 5 minutes Tom had the first fish of the morning, a healthy little bass.

He not long after picked up another one just a touch smaller than the first, then things went a little quiet for a while. We then came accross a massive snag right in the middle of the creek, after peppering the edges I thought why not, I'll put one straight through the middle and worry about pulling a fish out after I hook it. Turns out I got lucky, just as my spinnerbait came off my side of the snag it got pumped! A few short sharp runs and mistaken identity calls a health 55cm yellowbelly was netted.

This fish kicked off a bit of yellow fever, with Tom and myself both landing another yellowbelly each in the next half hour albeit slightly smaller than the first.

After these couple we started to find a few bass again with both of us landing a couple of average fish in the low-mid 30's.
