Hi all,

last thursday friday, I have been to Glenbawn Dam for the 1st time ever. Truth be known only my second Bass trip. 1st was St Clair 3 odd years ago. being breambo chaser I decided it is time to jump the fence to Fresh water. When Anthony 'Thorpy' Thorpe from Gladiator tackle gave me an invite , I had to take it.
Arriving at the Dam we checked in to the cabin, said hoo roo the the wife and hit the water.

We used spinner baits, bass minnows and a heap of Gladiator tackle kindly supplied by Thorpy.

Real good quality lures these Gladiator products.

we pulled up at our 1st spot near the "S" bend. silly name? I couldn't an "S" bend. apparently coz dam 100% full. Any way bugger me dead second cast, I was on.

I could not believe the way these awesome fish smash the lure.

after a couple of other minnor hits and near misses we decided to move one of the many flats that this great dam has.

Thorpy got a little beauty.

We hopped around a few more spots and got many more Bass.

Over the 2 days We managed about 40 legal Bass, 2 cracker Yellow bellies and a Massive silver perch off the wall. Thorpy out fished me about 10-1. but I was the one hooked. [;)]

I was pretty happy with my first and NOT last visit.

like any good day on the water. a coldie under a tree is the perfect end.

ahhhhh PERFECT

here are some other Photos of Thorpy's fish.

Caught on a suspending IMA foxy Fry.

Caught on a Gadiator Kazami surface lure.

here he used an IMA rock 'n' vibe in 004 colour. this lure proved a very deadly lure with a few species.

some other catches as a result of the Rock 'n' vibe

these Gladiator Tackle lures are brilliant and great value for money.

other lures I used were beatle spins rigged with a paddle tail, various spinner baits and Gladiator smash baits.

as mentioned truly a great couple of days on the water.

Great report mate - yes the bass smash hard really taking you by surprise even when you are expecting it. Wait till you get hit by one at close range in a kayak not for those with a weak heart. Those Kozami 60's are great lures fast becoming my favourite bass lure and priced well. I must check out some of their other lures. Cheers Pat.

So you went to the spot I told ya about first. Excellent! Really good spot with weed coming out into deepish water. Glenbawn is on fire at the moment and im hoping to get up there soon. Cheers Gav.

Thanks guys,

we had a ball,

Gav, both your spots fired and using the bladed lures like Celtas and Beatle spins worked as well.

the interline copped a real work out. ;)

Thanks all

Tony

Yeah I couldnt see why the celtas wouldnt work. Did ya try them along the surface like we talked about or down deep? A couple of mates are heading up this Sunday for a bash, I have a family beach session on Stocko so Iwont make it. Cheers Gav.

surface early, slow retrieve, then 10 - 15 foot later through day slow to medium.

it all seemed like reaction bites to me.

tell them to take beatle spins. cheap and affective.
