WA Bream Fishos Club

Hi all,
With all of the interest from new Bream fishos, I thought I might take a bit of a poll and see who would be interested in starting our own Bream fishos club.

The idea to help out new fishos. Get people in touch with boaters who would like extra people for a trip. To organise feild days and so on.

I have to run it by Ira and a few others guys to see if we could perhaps use the existing club, but I think it would be of benifit to us all to be a little better organised.

I'm keen bear. It'd definately be good during the winter months when there's no BREAM tournaments. It would stop interest from waning and keep my casting arm in:D

I guess it depends how serious a club you want to make it. To become an incorporated club, there's lots of things you need to do including worring about a committe and insurance (read big $$).

I've dropped Ira an e-mail aboutthe possibility of setting it up via out ABT membership.

I think there is too much interest from new members to let this slip.

I think thats a great idea. The liability thing is woth looking into though!!!
It would really help guys like me who are yet to enter a comp, as you'd learn a hell of a lot, gain some boating prowess, etc, etc.

Yeah good idea Bear,

I know for myself who was extremely hesitant to own a boat at the start beacuase I had absolutly no idea, but have learnt so much since starting fishing from boats and geoff p especially, Im now reasonably confident in starting, driving/steering, launching and the use of an electric now. Which makes me want to buy a boat ASAP where I would never have considered it before....

Another great idea, I am yet to go in a comp but looking forward to the Walpole round :) Do the bream still take lures through out winter because as jimi said it would be a great oppertunity to keep it active through the colder months :)

I think its an excellant idea as well..

Wot would be great as well would be if everyone could put in data of their fishing trips..

Stuff like time fished, tides, moon, wind, temp, barometre... All of this can be usefully used to provide info back to the angler....

Grant, in the swan, the winter can be a great time to get some big bream around the yacht clubs in the lower part of the river. They congregate here to spawn. It's mostly softplastic country due to the depth and type of structure. This winter there seemed to be an exposion in the number of bream being caught on lures around the yacht clubs.

Don't know if there is anything like that where you live, but I think people are discovering more and more that bream on lures is a year round proposition. It's just that in winter you have to put up with the rain and losing feeling in your legs when launching the boat :eek:

I am definitely interested, I dont know if we have to formalise things as a seperate club or just keep networking. The more a few of us together like we are going to on Wednesday, the more vibrant the club will be getting together for land based things looks pretty successful too. Using this forum seems pretty effective.

Don't forget guys, during our winter we have the east coast B.R.E.A.M. titles plus the Grand Final. You'll find that if you qualify for the state team that you'll be keeping your hand in anyway.

I'm keen to sponsor a couple of "off season" comps anyway so we have a chance to introduce the sport to as many newcomers as possible. If the pressure isn't on to land a fish, I'm sure a heap of fringe "Bream Sportsfisho's" will make the plunge and compete.

If we stick together as a national circuit, then I'm sure we will become much stronger as a whole than if everyone starts heading off in their own direction. Each state will hold it's own "off season" teasers, and when the full season kicks off each year I'm sure we will have pulled in a number of new competitors who cut their teeth in the "fun" events. We could even handicap the events so that newbies can win by only catching a fish or two. If your total catch weight is reduced during these "fun" events by the number of tourney's you've competed in, then I'm sure we'll drag a heap of new competitors in.

By the way, how 'bout sending over those patches for us West Aussies Steve. I know there are a heap of WA guys who are waiting patiently to wear their ABT patches with pride.

craig- how did you guys go this arvo???

It was so dead, Chris landed one tiny bream at the start and then yeah non of us got a thing..we fished a rather large stretch of water too, you'd think one of us would land something decent.

After I got home I popped down to Ascot Waters to see Scott who was fishing with his girlfriend, they hadn't picked up anything either (same with the prawn soakers there).
