I was stuffing around last week with some Motor Oil and Bloodworm coloured 3 inch Craws, and found that I wasnt getting much tail wobble from slow retrieves. I need to really speed things up to get some action going. So I started thinking and came up with a theory. i tried setting the hook point through the middle or back half of the plastic and deliberately creating a "dip from the head to the middle, following the natural contour of the hook.

I found that the action became more erratic on slower retrieves and on sharp jigs and flicks of the rod tip the head nosedives agressively and the tail not only flips upward but shakes sideways more severely.

Now if I can just catch a Bream on this thing ...LOL.

But seriously if your having troubles or arent happy with some of the longer plastic's action on slow retrieves, try the "warped underbelly" look. I tested this in the swimming pool thus seeing the results....

Hmmmm, interesting approach. Keep us posted as to results.
I normally fish "critters" on a splitshot rig with a wide gape worm hook and use them like bait. I don't use them on jig heads and I don't actively retrieve them as I would a single tail grub, etc.

Try fishing them using a drop shot rig with the hook placed through the tail only...
This will give the craw heaps of action and allow you to use a very slow retrieve! It also allows you to keep the lure in the zone longer!

Kingpin,
That sounds like a great idea for a shallow, weedy Bream spot I know. I will try and give it a go soon :-)
