I've been using Yamatoyo since it became available & its never let me down :D Love it :D :D
Very impressed with the Yamatoyo, even been using it as my fly leader lately.
Stren would be second.

Probably a few Rios users lurking around too. Not me anymore, I'm with Ravin and am convinced about the Yamatoyo.

I usually use Stren Magnathin but I've run out and can't find it anywhere!!$@#
I'm stuck with using Penn 10x at the moment... still does the job.

As per the rest - Yamatoyo 4,6 and 8pd.
Ive been fully amazed and impressed at how it hasn`t taken a nick when heaving some lures out of trees, to the point where I just shake my head and start casting again. Yet to be let down by it.
cheers

I'm using Siglon and Rio's in 5lb -> 7lb, and Black Magic in higher lb's around the structure and for flatties (good abrasion resistance) .

it's yamatoyo. been extremely impressed with it. was using Rio but found it too expensive. Yamatoyo is good value for money I reckon.
Stren, have used it for six years now with no problem.

A brand called Fulling Mill is my choice.
Available in 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-?? lb at a Sydney tackle store. The 2 and 5lb are the ones I use the most. Very soft and limp, similar feel to the Stren Magnathin.

I'm using Jarvis Walker 6 pound for my leader, mainly cause im a poor man........:D
Hi Guys,
while in FNQ recently we did a four day test on Stren and Yamamotto, two anglers used Stren and Two used Yamamotto over a four day period. The end result was that we found Stren more true to it's braking stain than Yam and the Stren handled mangrove roots, rocks etc a little better than Yam.
Even when chaffed or nicked the Stren lasted much longer before breaking than the Yam. (BTW I have no connection with Stren or Yamamotto)

HI breamers :)
Thank you for supporting the product and I believe it is truely great!! The first 2 shipment were all sold out!!product was sold out!! 99% of the survey were being very postive to the product!! Thank you guys for great support and I will try to have more "BREAMIN" product for all the breamers :)
Hi Samurai,
Can I know which Yamatoyo line were you doing the test, and which line class were you testing? I was just come back from Hinchinbrook not long ago and we find it was great!
Thank you for spending time testing the line out! If you were happy with Stren and conclude Stren is better, go for it :) . I am sure they are great product too since they have quite many believers :)
As far as other brand...I am pretty sure Yamatoyo is way better in abbrassion resistance and very invisble in water. Myself and field tester spend lots of time compare to other product. We are doing this because we don't want to bring DohDohDohDohty product into the market.
Also it is hard to compare mono leader and Fluorocarbon leader since they are completely different. With Fluorocarbon, honestly you have less knot stength, but Fluorocarbon material is much tougher than mono or co-polymer composite line. You can travel around the world to seek the answers saying I am wrong:)
happy fishing!
Hi Madfish,
if you take the time to read what I wrote you would see that I did not say Yamatoyo was a DohDohDohDoh or a bad product, what I said was we found Stren was better.
Three of the anglers involved in the test are all specialist in their field of fishing and have more runs on the board between them than you me and the rest of the members here put together, and are not connected to either brand and have nothing to gain from Stren or Yamayoyo (unlike yourself:D ).
We were asked to do a inderpendent test on these brands for a company in the US. You pointed out that you found your worked ok at Hinchinbrook, I hardly think you would give your own product a bad review lol.
All who took part in the test found both products very good, but one faired a little better and that one was Stren High Impact flurocarbon.
We could only call it as we seen it.

Hi Samuri,
Fair enough :)
I think words of mouth is the most important. I won't argue with the quality of Yamatoyo.
Just have few questions that which Yamatoyo line did you do the test( What model), what line class were u testing? and Who give the Yamatoyo line to you to do the testing?
So who is the independent company in US asking you guys doing the test and giving you product? As far as I know Yamatoyo is not avaible in US. I think don't think they bother comparing with Stren and Yamatoyo side by side. Especially test them in Australia. That is my opinion as far as business wise.
cheers:)

Hey samurai
Where is the stren fluorocarbon (do they only make the one type) available? How does it compare price wise with the yamatoyo?
Thanks
matt
I've been looking at getting some Stren H I F as the line diameters, if correct are very impressive. As far as I know Stren only make the H I F down to 10lb (I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong), but that shouldn't matter as the stated dia for the 10lb is
0.011, which is less then 4lb Nitlon, which has a dia of 0.179. Even the Stren 20lb is only quoted at 0.0170, which is still less then the Nitlon 4lb. But manufacturers have been know to tell a few porky pies in the past:rolleyes:
I use Siglon, Nitlon and Yamatoyo and have found the Yam to be a slightly better performer then the others, but I'm looking forward to grabbing some of the Stren stuff and seeing how it compares.

Hi Samuri,
For example, I use G.Lommis myself and I find it is great. But I don't have to compare loomis to other brand side by side because it cost too much. And I don't get anything from them:D
So you were giving product for testing because one "Independent" Company in US which is not associate Yamatoyo(obviously) and Stren paying all the cost for product giving you freebie to test and which don't make any benifit for the company. It doesn't make sense. So why they test the product for? Also that Stren Fluro is not avaible yet in Australia and why do you have to recomand people for it?
I think Yamatoyo is great and I say so...people know I didn't lie. it is my nature as an angler.
you were sponsored by Yamaha and Black Diamond etc, of course you will recommand them too !!LOL:D
We all can recomand the product no matter you were sponsored or not. It become to the personality of the angler who has creditbility or not.
Enough say, You use Stren, I use Yamatoyo and I will defend my product no matter what :) I also have great support so I am happy!
Happy fishing;)
Madfish, sorry to burst your bubble but Stren had nothing to do with the test and the inderpendent company who the test was done for supplied both the Stren and the Yamatoyo.
And please get your facts right Stren saltwater High Impact fluorcarbon is in fact available in Australia at selected tackle stores and has been for some four years.
I'm pleased you are happy with your product, and no one said it was not great or that you would lie about it.
I do quite a few test for many US companies every year on tackle and if a importer, manufacturer or who ever does'nt like or agree with our findings, tough, We are not a fishing mag where a importer or manufacturer can refuse not to advertise with us if we give their product a bad review. (when was the last time you seen a product get a bad review in a fishing mag?)
The man in the street is entittled to see the good and the bad of a product be it yours or anyone elses not just what pleases the importer or manufacturer.
After all that is said and done, if your product is as good as you say then why worry, or get all fluffed about it:) just ignore it.
Cheers Samurai
BTW Mad Fisho,
We also did some testing of Soft stick baits for barra, you will be pleased to hear the ecogear one came out on top, see when some lose some:D

siglon is the only way i use it in the 4,6,8,10,13lb ive tried everything and in my personal oppinion it has been the best i wont use a product just to say thats what im using i will only use it if i think its the best for my application and this stuff got me to a NSW Pro Bream series win ive landed afew 1.2 to 1.4kg bream around racks and had them do some rubbing but it still hung on even had it with little frays up the leader then tried to break it and it broke at the not and to this day ive never had it break at the mainline not but in saying this eveyone has thier own oppinions and thats the way it should be this is just mine. thanks Glenn
