Hopefully the mods won't mind if i post this up. Info people have been after.

Also if people are thinking of fishing the classic down here in April you really need to start booking accommodation ASAP as it may not be available after Chrissy.

As Vice President of the AOFBC I again would like to thank the following people.

Our great sponsors of the event. Trailblazers, Battery World Albany,
GB Marine, Searing Tackle, Gladiator Tackle, WAFM and Mad eye lures for the sample packs.

All the competitors especially the ones that travelled.

To the people that gave there time to help over the event, as with out them events like this would never happen.

Stu Klose for all his considerable efforts over the last week and on the weekend, I don't think most of you have any idea the time Stu puts in and this year was even worse because he took on the catering. Big effort Stu, and a Big effort Rochelle for keeping him sane.

Finally the weather gods for being pretty good to us over the weekend.

As the Skipper of the winning Team I would like to thank some people and say a few words that did not come out yesterday.

Thanks to all the event Sponsors.

Thanks to my Krew Matt as with out his enthusiasm and drive as I don't think we would have even been in the event with out him as I have been off work for the last 2 weeks and its a good job he is my boss so he can't sack me for fishing at the weekend biggrin.gif
Great effort Matty.

Thanks to all the other competitors.

Thanks to the organiser especially Stu, I will say it again he does way too much and we must change this for next year's event to happen.

Thanks to Garry Healy from Battery World Albany / Expedition Off-road / Healy Automotive for his support as without that we would have struggled to make the event.

Now what I should have said yesterday.

You can tell Jack Dawson has a whole lot more experience with winners speeches than myself as when I finally got back on a even keel I thought his speech was excellent and mine was a bit average biggrin.gif For those that are interested we fished the King for the entire event, starting last on day one it seemed our only chance as we knew the Kalgan would be pretty full of boats. We fished some very shallow flats for 95% of the time, on day 1 Matt did very well on a Bent Minnow that he had bought from Jim the day before while I did my thing on Berkeley Gulp Crabbies, on the way out of the King we had one drift near the Bridge and Matt picked up a 34 up grade on one of the new gladiator Vibes enabling us to have a bag of fish all over 30.

Sunday was always going to be tough as personally I have only ever caught one legal previously in Speccys let alone the clear sky's and flat water making it hard for the whole field. Starting 5 it was going to be a no brainer that we would fish the same area even with less water, it was at least 2 hours until we troubled the scorers and then with the rising tide and some cloud covers we put a 5 fish bag together all on Crabbies also managed a few upgrades including our biggest of the day at 31 on a drift in the same spot Matt had got his 34 the previous day but this fish came out of about 8" of water to my Crabbie.

To say we feel humble and very proud to have won this event against some very good Bream Anglers would be a understatement and I personally rate it as one better achievements in my fishing life that has been going for a long time in a vast amount of places .

Big thanks to those who participated in the event over the weekend, was tough but enjoyable....

Couldn't agree more Stu, and I think yourself & the many unseen folks at the 'AOFB club' and their enthusiasm who help make this event so enjoyable. Sunday's bacon roll brekkie and foaming frosties at the weigh-in made for a terrific atmosphere. And it is always nice to get a couple of "secrets" from Jim :D

Andy & I had, what can only be described as an adventurous weekend ;) and I was a little embarrased at the generousity of the "tool" prize.

I was stoked to catch a fabulous mulla in the channel and look forward to what is fast becoming the must-do event on the WA bream calendar, next year.

I just had a conversation with Mark M, he asked of the phone number of the person who donated the drill that he won on day two, he then rang Ryan "Sticks" Theyer and thanked him and had a good chat. He then got back to me letting me know how lucky we are have sponsors like Ryan.

But from my point of view I think we are even luckier to have competitors like Mark.

A huge thanks for that

On the briefing night I must have incorrectly said that Russell Burrows who was one of our major sponsors was from GB Marine, this is incorrect as he is from Rusty's Marine. If you are ever in Albany please support Russell as he is now repairing Minn Kota Electrics so they do not have to be sent to the Eastern Seaboard.

Yes,

A really great weekend of fishing.
Congrats to all the winners and great to see someone that puts so much into the event and fishing in Albany get something back well done Korg and team mate Matt.
Thanks to all the sponsors and organisers, this is the most enjoyable weekend in the fishing calendar, IMO.
Agree with Mark, if you have never fished it you need to do it, great fun.
