Chopper, I'd prefer a Loop Knot but a uni will also do the job well.

How do you tie the loop Knot

I use the improved clinch aka locked blood knot. Google it for pics.

If you would like to learn how to tie a loop knot, you can find out on fishnet.com.au or sportsfish.com.au. If you already know how to tie a uni knot, you can also just leave a small space above the lure or jig to create a 'lure loop'! It works increasingly well especially on HB lures.

Used to use a loop knot but just use a uni knot to tie on the jig now. Works just as good. Still use the loop knot for HB's tho

that loop knot mark posted isn't the best for light leaders (under 10lb or so),

use a locked uni, its exactly like a normal uni knot only start with an overhand knot. make sure you close the knot corectly too. measure the size of loop needed. then lock it by pulling against the tag only.

if something bigger climbs aboard and you really need to steer him the knot will just close - won't fail!

Yes they effect the action of your lure

what about using a fly clip

i know its easy to attatch new sp's that way, but do you think they also effect the lures movement

I use a fly clip, so do my mates. It's easy to change jig heads and are so small they don't seem to affect the lure. I've tried loop knots and fly clips they don't seem to make any differance to the amount of fish you catch, fly clips are just easier.

Mark

Dont forget to metion they are easy to catch canoeists late in the arvo as well. Unfortunately this specie do not return your clip, or sp or leader..................

I loooooooove the mustad fly clips. I've got it worked now so the fingers easily unclip one lure to the next.

Another good reason to use fly clips, (as I recently found out on a 38cm fish), is that they can hook the fish for you and the jighook is not even in the fishes mouth!:D :D :D

Thats right, i snagged a fish on a flyclip while the hook dangled free:D

gday

i just use very small snaps without the swivel. Theyre pretty much the same as fly clips.

cheers

I have used the "speed clips" made by Norman Lures (US) to good effect.

They are a bit of a cross between a split ring and a snap.
