In Buschy and Starlo's Bream Bible, check out the soft plastics section, there's quite a lengthy discourse.

Have used the Gene Larew Crappie spiders with some success and the EcoGear Mini Tanks are awesome ;)

I think I'd probably be right in suggesting that those sorts of soft plastics would be most effective when used with a vertical presentation, with light/no jig heads. You know what I mean? Dropping them straight down into heavy cover, or beside pylons or at the edges of oyster racks.

Would you agree that a vertical presentation would be most effective with these plastics?

Most Definately...
Last year a very large amount of the fish I caught were using Craws jigged vertically alongside pylons.
Try the Ecogear Minitanks and Tank S...they are very sexy placcies which imitate crabs very well!
