Ouch!!!! geez i hate hooks in me or seeing it on others for that matter.
Many yrs ago an old fishing buddy showed me how to remove hooks from ppl almost painlessly and quickly.
Firstly you get a piece of mono or similar about 10kg bs or better that is about 30cm long.
Place the line thru the bend of the hook and get both ends together in your free hand.
Place some weight on the back of the hook or treble to hold the barb less into the flesh. (You can press the hook/treble against the side of the boat or whatever if you are alone.)
Lastly grip the ends of the heavy line and give one quick firm jerk.
The hook will come out quickly without the barb catching too much flesh along the way.

I have used this method on hooks on lures or for livebaits up to about 8/0 size and it has always worked with minimal pain. The clue is to put a fair amount of pressure on the hook to relive the barb.

May your fishing days not need this tip, but rest assured its a whole lot faster, easier and less painful than using pliers or cutting the hook off and threading it thru completely.

That is a good tip and works well but it is still a better idea to crush the barbs when you first get the lure ( makes field operations much less painful )

After my little episode today I was glad my trebles were crushed. When I realised that they were crushed after a rush of blood, I ripped it straight out. Stings now but.

Yeah I saw that on one of Bushy n Starlo`s shows.... and we definitly tried that first, but she wasn`t going anywhere, ... and for a while a couple of good tugs of pliers weren`t doing much either..... the dangers of not debarbing.....did so straight afterwards..... but it worked out well in the end with minimal pain :D but would have proven too difficult by myself, so cheers geoff.

Cheers

Yes, I once go a trebled hook stuck in my foot before when I was fishing under this bridge in east fremantle. I was walking around the shore casting in all directions when I stepped on this lure and had to go to the doctors to get it cut out. But I just looked on the bright side, I had found a nice lure.

That's the way Tony.

Poor Richo managed to get a treble in his foot after you left. Took it out using that method. Helped that the barbs were crushed as well though.

my mate jimmy was fishing down at this lake that is down the road from us and my othere was walking behind him when he was flicking lures intothe lake. jimmy had got the trbles stuck in the back of my mates head but jimmy thought that he had got a branch so he tugged harder which caused the trebles to imbed further into my mates head lol. we ended up taking him to the hospital and he had to get 7 stiches:( :(

That method works well Mangajack I have used it a couple times on friends who were pinned. I prefer the push it through method on some though :D :D A "friend" used the push through method on a 6/0 Mustad 540 that was stuck in my leg once & OUCH is a word that leaps to mind :D At least I had sharpened it razor sharp beforehand it would have been worse with a blunt hook  Sharp hooks benefit fishos as well :) :)

I once copped a 4/0 sneck with live poddy in my scalp.

That required a trip to the Doc's minus the poddy!!
