Go Pro battery Life

Hi Guys,

I have issues with battery life when using a 32gig SD card, i.e the battery flattens before the card is full.

I have envisaged a plan to do one of two options

The first one is buy an extended life battery that would solve the problem as the SD card life and battery would compare, however if running multiple SD cards then battery would still be compromised.

Secondly, I thought of buying a USB adapter that will plug into my 12v socket on the boat (or car) and charge the camera (and my iphone) as I use it. This would limit me in two ways, firstly the camera would have to be plugged in requiring modification of the non waterproof housing, secondly the camera would need to be within cables length of the power source. However its power source would be endless.

i finally got to give my gopro a full test over the weekend.

I have a 32gb card and two batteries (the spare is in the Battery backpack that i use to charge the battery and leave it stored away until i need to swap it over). I also have two additional spares on order so i can always have a battery or four charged ready to go.

if need be the battery back pack can be clipped on and used to double the battery life, it comes with a larger housing to accommodate the additional battery.

Next is to get a few more 32gb cards...

Just out of interest, how long do you get with a 32GB card?

I got around 2hrs~ of footage which ended up being ~14gb, filming at 720p @ 60fps before the battery died.

it all depends on the setting you use...i filled half the card and was roughly 4 hours 45mins...recording 720p @ 30fps...

Also i had to change the battery over after 3 hours 20mins roughly

Correct me if i'm wrong but from memory the human eye can only see 24 frames per second, any less and it is jerky any more and we dont really see any difference. Thats why PAL (what we use) is 30 frames per second and NTSC (America) is 27 frames per second. I would record at 30 frames and extend your battery life.

I just bought mine from go pro website (my tax come back) and I got helmet camera pack, battery charger, 2x batteries, backdoor floaty and lcd screen.. cant wait for it too arrive. Got 2x Toshiba 32gb class 4 sdhc memory cards of ebay as well... I got big plans for this little camera!

I think you'll find that PAL is 25 fps and NTSC is 30 fps hence NTSC Video Cameras have the 30/60fps settings and PAL Video Cameras usually have 25/50fps.
