Went out with a purpose the other day, to tame the Port Hackings sneaky bream....
Now these bream are no fools, I've caught plenty in the past on lures in this river, but I focused on an area usually unfishable with anything but topwater lures.
And ended up with a total of 19 bream to 37cm.

These fish are sneaky purely because of there environment, extremely shallow water, averaging a foot and a half, crystal clear water with nice[:r] bottom consisting of nothing but oysters and mangrove shoots..and to top it off, glaring midday sun!
so as you can imagine, jigs[:?] na! Hardbodys[:?] possible but hardly worth the time and not least the lost lures..
Fizzers etc? fish have to be in the mood...[:pz]
Well out came the stickbaits, my 3 inch sluggos etc.
whippin, whirling, skipping... these got nailed so hard its not funny!
And I tell ya, 4lb trace and any 30 plus bream in a foot of water around oysterville is a hard and often ugly fight!
These fish would not hit a lure with any trace over 4lb, I know, I tried!!
you only get one photo cause thats all I can seem to put on a single post!
Lunker City all the way!!
