new rod

[Bream Assassin]

i've been looking aroung the internet at a few rods and this one caught my eye. i havn't seen it in the shop so don't really know anything about it, so i was wondering what other breamers thought of it

(for both soft plastic and hard bodies)

If there is one rod that stands out from all the rest its a BROWNING. So many Browning owners continually sing their praises as simply the best rod they have ever fished with. SYNTEC IM6 Graphite series features Fuji reel seats,Fuji aluminium oxide guides and Portuguese "A" grade cork grips.
Use line weight 2-6kg.

I had a look at that rod when searching for a stiffer upgrade to my stella spin. Had a feel of one of them at campbells and was that thing was a broomstick! Loaded...wait, tried to load it up hehe

Not exactly sure what rating that rod I picked up was tho,...think it was that same line class. I think the less beefy models are pretty good

I dont know where You are at Adam..but over here in Sydney, I seen those rods at Compleat Angler in Villawood.

Do Compleat Angler have stores nationally???

BA, I've got a couple of 5' 6" Brownings, but not that one.

Not too bad at all..just cant think of my model number off the top of my had lol.

I have a Browning IM6 6" rod. It was all I had to start with and I thought it was good, but after trying a Steve Starling Stella 6"6' I changed my mind. I was missing a lot of fish as I didnt feel or see the small touches. I now have a custom Graphite USA which is absolutely perfect for soft plastics and small hard bodies (like oargees) as I can feel everything and can twitch my lure and give it more action. I couldn't do this with the Browning. If you can get an IM8 Browning it would be better. I only ever use the IM6 for big hard bodies for places like fishing the flats.

i have 3 browning vectra's (IM8) and i reckon that they are awesome rods, for what i bought them for. unfortunately breamin was not one of the reasons. barra fishing, light offshore work they are perfect but not to sure about the "all round" purposes that you require for breamin.
one of the rods i have is a 2-6kg 6'6 spin stick which is the same model model just better quality blank.

i think for a HB rod they (IM8s) are perfect and for about $180 are priced very well. they have a reasonably fast taper which i like in a HB rod. for plastics on the other hand i would never use it for them. i know rods is very much a personal preference thing but for plasticing i find that they are way to stiff in the tip.

my mate has the im6 version that you are looking at in the 6'6 model and whilst its a great allrounders rod for all types of fishing i personally would nt be buying it purely for breaming. i just dont rate the tip for plasticing.

hey Mim what is the model of you GUSA blank. im just in the process of getting a 5'6 HB rod made up, but i cant remember exactly what the number is. its the 100% graphite Medium taper C model i think??? did you get the 100% graph or did you get the compo glass graphite one?

is a medium action as denoted by 'M' in the model def'n

we have an IM6 STS66ML 'ML - is Medium light' (the rod Mim referred to) and an IM6 STS66M 'M - Medium'

You can use the ML as an all round rod and it is good value, comparable to the heavier Daiwa Heartland S models. The Medium action Browning is only good for larger hardbodies.
Mim and I now use higher level rods because we appreciate the finesse action. The graphite USA blanks can only be ordered through a tackle store and you won't be able to find any to have a play with in person. I chose the Graphite USA 660DHX 6' 6" Ultralite Fast Action 1-2kg 3-7gm for the strength through the butt and finesse action. I have now used Mims rod a number of times including our stay in Sydney and will always reach for it first in preference to my Heartland Z, it handes kilo plus fish with ease, It is that good !

JP, complete fisherman in Nedlands stock a range of GUSA blanks which they get from rodwise (importer for Aust)....

if anyone is interested, go and speak to Jarrad down there his very informative and will confuse the $h!t out of you with all the models that are are available.

Another option is to contact Rodwise direct and go in and have a feel of the blanks, choose the one you want, then visit your favourite tackle retailer and they can deliver it to them. Remember that these are very good quality rods and you pay for it.
We had mine through The Lure in Joondalup.
