heya rod wolloper
I used drop shotting yesterday with limited success, caught two flathead and bustoff on one thumper bream. i was working the flats with a fast jerk stop retreive.
my rig: one metre 6 LB mono leader to a 1/8 running shot above a swivel, then another metre leader to a 1.0 slider hook and 2" bassmaster grub
motoroil and purple caught the fish. ;)
got a nice flathead on a R2S as well , ran about 50cm. my best flattie on lure to date.

What you are describing is a Carolina rig, not drop-shot.
Drop-shotting is where the weight is on the bottom and the lure comes off a dropper some way above that.

sorry thought i read split shotting - which is a derivative of carolina rigging
sorry
yeah drop shotting is quite good especially if yer in slightly muddied water the sinker'll kick up some dirt and attract the fish quicker
