View Full Version : WA bream guys midweek fish
Hi Guys, I've just been talking to Bear and he is keen for a boat based fish midweek next week. We were thinking wednesday next week, meeting at the Maylands boat ramp at 4pm.
We'll probably hit Ascot waters then move upstream until we find the fish.
For those that don't know me, my boat is a Stessco catcher with an electric on the front. My car is a silver subaru forester (I've got to get an avatar sometime :p)
Is anyone interested in this? I'll be there regardless.
James.

James, I'll be dead keen particularly given I look like missing out this weekend!!!
Regards
Craig
Cool, I think bear has also been reigned in by his missus this weekend.:D It'd be good to get a few boats together.
James
I'm definately interested, as i'm finished school, and have too much time on my hands. I have no boat though.:(
My weekends are taken up by cricket, so it's good to hear that there are guys who'll go mid week!!!:D

I am keen, however I find that when your all out togethor you go off and do your own thing. Maybe we should have a 4pm start and a meeting spot at a specific time so we can all look at what everyone has got. Too many boats will fish the same snag's if you all stick togethor.
Geoff
Yep, true about fishing the same spots. Probably best to meet at 4, split up the non-boaters into boats, and then meet back at dark or just after.
Cheers
James.

Are prawn soakers welcome? haha.
I'd love to get out on the move... am getting sick of standing in the one spot recently, and I can't take my Dad's boat out as the trailer is screwed :(
If there's anyone who doesn't mind a prawn soaker tagging along, I'd love to come out and learn a few things. :p Just haven't started playing with lures as yet due to the majority of my fishing being done from shore...

Keen as, I like Geoffs Idea, we all launch together and meet back a couple of hours later with the results...... Will good to catch up with a few of the lads, got a spot for me Geoff....??.. I`ll bring the water......
Cheers
Richo:p
Hey guys
Do you just split the fuel costs? I'm really interested in hitting some nice bream as i've been missing the real action as i have no boat and live near freo, which is a distance to the nearest bream hotspot at the moment!!!
I've been hearing good things about your latest expeditions upriver.:D
Kingpin, I usually leave it up to my passengers. If you want to put in for fuel, I'll gladly accept, but we don't generally use huge amounts of fuel on a bream trip so I don't mind if you can't afford it.
I guess if I ended up going out alot with the same guy I'd expect some payment.
James.
Hi Craig H,
We tend not to sit long enough for bait, but I'm sure I have a few lures you can try.
I'm keen as for a wid-week fish aswell.
Yeah I reckon what Geoff said's a bloody good idea.
Would be great to get a few boats out and about and see how guys go on some of the thumpers out there.
Don't be shy guys, speak up for a chance to get some good fish.
Evan.... you going to drop yours in as well??
Geoff R

I forgot I'll be in Walpole next week as of the 15th for a pre fish but after that no worries
yeah bear ill be dropping in
i dont think as yet i have any other arrangements!!! are we talking early mid week or late mid week- i would prefer earlier rather than later
geoff - change of plan for tomorrow. i cant make it down there tonight so ill be heading down tomorrow morning as well
Wednesday Evan.
OK with you??

No worries, Richo and I will plan to be at the bend around 9ish. Did you see the Honkers Bear and I got? awsome stuff.
will see you tomorrow, who are you taking?
I'll be in for an arvo flick. Hey Bear, Mad Phil has not got the internet at home but I'll let him know as I know he will be up for it. It might be a good chance for a few pics of the boats also.
We have been going out at night with lures and picking up a few fish. I took a mate out on sunday night who has never caught a bream on a lure before and the first fish he ever lands was 39cm fish and it was around 9pm...not bad!!!
Craig C
wed sounds good for me bear- thanks should be a great arvo especially as the tides are getting higher!!!!
geoff im going down with my mate that has the house down there. i think that we are aiming to get down there around that time but we are going to stop off and raid the local tackle shop before we go to the bend. they were nice size fish - count me in next time you need a fishing partner:D
catch ya tomorrow
Noticed that last night as well. Both out bream were caught fairly late in the day and they really hadn't stopped biting.
Might have to give it a try if you have the room one night.
I'll send the photos to you as well for him.

Hi Guys,
I have had to send the wife interstate and the kids to their grand parents but I have managed to clear Wednesday afternoon. So if there are still any seats left ina boat on Wednesday i would love to tag along and meet a few of you and pick up some tips.
Please let me know how the numbers are looking (I am always happy to chip in for fuel etc)

Hi guys,
i would be really interested in getting in on a mid week fish for sure. I have been seeing the success you guys are having lately and this would be a great oppurtunity to meet some of you and have a fish as well.
Im only new to the sport and only had two sessions but keen to learn more.
how will i get all the meeting details?
really looking forward to it.
cheers kevvy.
For those who feel like it, we'll also be doing a bit of land base Breamin' on Tuesday meeting at the lakes at Herrison and then heading out from there.
Drop me a PM if you want to chat more.
hey bear mitch and i were going to go for a land based fish around guildford or somewhere else that he has found - probably tomorrow- might even go on the boat- are you keen???
he said that he has had quite a bit of success there recently
the tide is looking good- i was down at my local yacht club and the tide was quite high for down there!
Can't make it tomorrow, but how about Tuesday??
we'll probably go again on tues as well
do you reckon that the drains at herrison will be producing a few more bream now that the tide is higher??

Yeah guys as Evan said, him and myself will be fishing Guildford (Fish Market Reserve) tomorrow either in the morning or afternoon (most probably the arvo). If anyone wants to come and say g'day and have a fish you're more than welcome.
And about Wednesday, what are the numbers of boaters and non boaters so far????
Guys,
At the moment the boaters are:
MadPhil
CraigC
Jimi
Evan.
Not sure about ay one else. If there are too many non boaters, I don't mind giving it a miss. I would prefer it if some of the new guys got a go.
We'll see who turns up on Wed arvo. If there are too many non boaters then maybe I could take some up to Fish Market Reserve.
Good idea Bear,
I've been lucky enough to have been asked out on a couple occasions to try my luck from a boat and if there is too many non-boaters I would gladly give up a spot to give someone who hasn't had the chance to try it from a boat a go....it's so much more rewarding. :)
Bear....count me in for a fish at Fish Market Reserve if there isn't enough spots on boats.
I'll just be glad to get out for a flick!!! :D
Cheers,
Dave
Hey guys,
Where do we meet on wednesday, and what time.
I'm lookin forward to this as i can get some experience from the boat. All my fishing has been land based, and thats has been good, but boats just make it better and easier.
Also, with the responce weve just had, why not make this a regular thing, and maybe hold un-official comps so the anglers can get some experience with some pressure on them, and also see how it really works at the real comps!!!:D
Kingpin, the plan is to meet at the Maylands boat ramp (near the maylands tennis club, at the end of Peninsula road) at 4pm on Wednesday.
If we can get the bream club up and running, this kind of thing could become regular. It's best not to call it a comp though as that may mean an entry fee and that means liability insurance which is when it all becomes to hard. A social fish is probably a better name.
Cheers
James.

Any room left??
Chris:D
I can take 2 people max (3 if you include me), so whoever is there at 4pm gets a ride. As mentioned, we'll try and split people up into the available boats.

Yeah im in, and I don`t mind going landbased if there are to many non boaters as well - Ive been quite spoilt in the last few weeks so no drama`s for me either. Mitch and Ev what time are you guys heading down this afternoon...??. Bear heres a list of non-boaters interested so far.....
So Far 4 boaters....
and non boaters so far in order of response I think

Looks like we should try and get 1 more boat.....and that would cover the interested parties so far. Like Jimi said probably first come first served basis. If we can`t get another boat, a few of us will go on foot - I`ll be one.
Cheers

What time you guys thinkin of finishing the session?
Sounds like a great idea, Lets hope we get some good fish
:D ;)
I'll fish until it's too dark to see the snags proplerly. Probably be back at the ramp just after dark. That should give us about 4 - 4.5 hours.

12-01-2003, 10:28 PM
are you guys going to be fishing in bassendean area and beyond there?
i think ill have to get outta the boat in bassendean and walk home as i cannot really get picked up at dark time in maylands from my parents.
still plenty of time to get a few fish though
:D :D :D
thats if it ok with you guys :p
thanks Chris
Should be ok, most people will probably head up that way to fish anyway.

pm me your mob number and ill let you know or ill post it up here

Yeah Richo I was at Campbells the other day and found one stashed in the bunch of their sneakies..I couldnt resist but to pick it up as it was exactly what I was wanting to do to a gold one (paint stripes on it)but yeah that green tinge is great too. Tried it out around Guildford that evening and picked up 5 bream (accidently said 4 in that other post), one of which was around a kilo. Fought like hell on that 2 kilo mono of yours :-)
Do you know who has stocks of them at the moment??
Mitch
13-01-2003, 12:36 AM
