View Full Version : Favorite Hardbody
Rapala Rap Shad, Black back grey body.
I've caught over 100 fish on the one lure 10 of which were over 41cms, Seems to work best on a dead slow retieve.

Will have to get my hands on one of those for sure, just went out for a quick fish down the road - lost my favorite lure (firefin sneaky) plus another (gold sneaky), finally broke my record of never losing a hardbody, oh well I ended up with three bream and a nice flathead so not all was at a loss!
thats a bummer mate
where abouts did you get the fish??? not along the rockwall i hope
was the tide a bit better today??

Nah mate just went for a walk down to Garvey Park..haven't tried there for ages so I thought I'd give it a try.
The tide was coming in gradually so I imagine Ascot Waters would have been ok. After we left Rosies last night we went and had a flick at Ascot again but didn't pick up anything, spotted a flathead sitting on a rock with the spotlight but other than that it was pretty dead.
nice one mitch- we'll catch up for a boat fish soon
sorry to abduct your thread steve
my fav make of harbody is definately the sneaky's esp the firefin and bloodnut colour.:)

my favourate hardbodie is a small yellow rebel crickhopper which has accounted for lots of bream that i have caught.:)
i aslo like deception nippers and attack minnows.
The Ore-Gee gold has been fishing very well. It's been a while since I've had to pull out the Attacks.
Also caught a few fish on the Scorpion Fluro Pink. Looks great in the water.

OarG`s in the new Gold, and Matty Fraser, and JG....... my favourite 3 by far.
Cheers
Richo:p
I'd have to agree with Richo
I got my Matty Fraser oarG yesterday and it went straight on and caught the first fish of the day.
The JG is just awsome and has caught me most of my fish.
And the Gold is another goodun both old and new models after seeing what Bear and Geoff caught on them yesterday I wanted to swap straight over to one. :D
Cheers,

Yeah Davo,
My thoughts were with the Matty Fraser, but my first use of the new gold landed 15 blackies of various sizes and 5 grunter.
Every time I had doubts I barely had time to get the sentence out. Id say - "Geez I dunno about this lu" then bang Im on, I especially like the tight action and reckon Bream go crazy over it.
Isn`t there a ban on Geoffs boat about throwing nothing but Gold OarG`s and Matty Frasers:D ....... Would have been a good day out there yesterday evening, catchya later.
Cheers

The new Gold is an absolute ripper. I lent mine to GeoffP down at Mandurah when he got stuck for inspiration. It started the day as brand spanking new but by golly it had acquired some "character" by the time I got it back.:D
I used the gold at Albany and caught my fish on it.
Was still using it last night, except that it now has a real chomped end. Check out the white showing in the pic. The 37cm guy I got last night did a bit of damage.

Nice pic Bear,
Why do you think gold has been so popular in WA rivers so far??, all the other colours still catch very well of course but gold seems hot to trot at the moment. .... I did forget to mention that I think the scorps have an awesome action and are definitly valued in my tackle box....

what!!! are you turning richo??? i thought you were a true oargee man- no pun intended
One thing I have noticed over the years is that predatorial fish love something with a bit of flash. The golds in the brackish water are ideal for this.

Talking of teeth marks how's this for a chewed up Scorp.
madfish
One hacked up lure.
You use the 52's much Madfish??
that certainly is one eaten lure- nice size fish on a big lure!!!
BTW: that wasnt caught at walpole by any chance was it??? the background would be giving away your spots!!!

Howya going Bear, I use the 52 D/D a bit and been getting the odd good fish on the Tilsan Bass. Evan it's at the mouth of the Hay R in Denmark, Ira's told me I'm not aloud to prick to many fish in the Pole so I've had to go fish my other options which are proving very good. My 11yr old son caught this one and it was 41cms and would of gone 3lb.

Dont let that young bloke onto a "68" either Madfish or the lure is going to be bigger than he is:)
You'd know more than a few spots down there I bet. Will be good to get down to your neck of the woods. Unfortunately I don't get down too often and it's great that the series is going all over the place.
If you don't mind me asking, do you find any advantage with the bigger lures??

I couldn't help myself Craig, here's a 48cm on a big 68 Scorp. Dont know it's weight but it'd have to go 2kg. Your right I cant let the young fella have a 68 he's already nailing good enough fish.

They cast better in the wind which there's been heaps of lately and since I've been using 50mm+ lures I haven't caught a Blackie under 24cms and I dont seem to be scaring too many off. Big lure big fish, if I stop catching I'll drop back down.

Ive got 11 scorps in my tackle box, definitly have a use for them, I caught my first 4 fish on them, but just seem to be going through an OarG phase at the moment, and a big one at that...... I do love the action of the scorp though.... me Gold OarG will be first off the rack this weekend......

Has anyone seen or know where I can get the gold sneaky with the black stripes and minnow pattern..I found one today, I haven't seen this pattern before and it's exactly what I was looking for, I was about to modify a gold one to exactly what this pattern is but hey if I can find more of the little suckers then I'll stock up!
Anyway tried it out this evening around Guildford and picked up 4 bream within 45 mins including one very nice fish of about a kilo..would have been around 38-39cms (last time I go out with no batteries in my camera)..was a lot of fun on 2 kilo mono straight to the lure (haha cheers Richo for that mono and for teaching me that new knot, it's good hey :-)

Just found out the colour code for that lure is:
R26 and its official name is a Golden Green
Thanks for that MadFish. I might just give it a go here in the Swanin the lead up to Walpole.
See you down there, I'll be staying with Richo.
Hey guys
I'd have to say that tilsan bass's have been the most successful
for me. ( sneaky's would also be up there)
