Went out for a fish in forster keys last week in a friends boat. First spot was one of the many shallow weedbeds which usually produces but not today, the only thing we managed to hook were some crabpots and weed:rolleyes:
We moved on to our next spot which was much the same and only got 2 undersized fish (35cm flathead and bream we didn't even bother to measure). So far our day wasn't looking good:(
Anyway we moved on and first cast off a bit of a dropoff my mate hooked up to a better fish. After a bit of a fight a 48cm flathead was in the net. It went a bit quiet after that with only one more keeper. With a bit more confidence we moved on to a spot where we were casting our soft plastics past a sandy dropoff and hopping them on the bottom back up it. My fourth cast i hooked up on the first twitch. I knew this was an okay fish and everything that could go wrong did go wrong!! First the flathead nearly did me on a crabpot then when i nearly had him in the net he nearly tangled me up in the motor then when i had him in the net he snapped my line and nearly jumped out of the net back in the drink. All this chaos for a 52cm flathead;) After that episode all hell broke loose with flathead coming in the boat left right and centre and numerous fish being dropped. We got a few nice 45cm fish in that lot as well.
We moved back near our second spot which we could only manage a flounder, us flathead and a keeper flathead. We decided to call it a day after that with flathead on the menu for dinner:cool:
Anyway enough from me here are some pics.
BTW, this is my first report on this forum and so far i have learnt so much from here already. I look forward to reading and contributing on here some more.:)
