Fins PRT Line, Anygood or not?

Hi, I only just found this site and am putting together an outfit for bream, small jacks and sooties in North QLD and have all sorts of ? Has anyone used Fins PRT in 10 pound and have you compared it to 10 pound fireline? If so what are your opinions on useing them of of a Okuma Avenger 20? Thanks in advance, Fenton.

I know how tough jacks are, but I wouldn't go putting 10lb on a setup you want to use for bream. The PRT is good stuff - I'd be more inclined to fish it on a baitcaster - a bit too limp especially for a low-end reel like the AV20.

For the fish you're targetting, I'd use 6lb Fireline which is fine to fish of an AV20 (if you can afford a step up in the reel department, you'll get a much better drag system which you'll need for jacks' and sooties' bursts of power).

Thanks Chris, I thought about what you said about stepping up in the reel department and decided after readying a few posts on here I am going to go for the Tica Libra 1 spooled with 6 lb Fireline and 1 spooled with 10 lb fitreline for places where I might incounter a few jacks and big tarpon. I have mated this with the Squidgy Bass rod. I am very interested in what you guys think about this setup. Thanks again, Fenton.

Sounds like a good combo, although in the future if you get more into the light stuff you might consider buying a second rod to use with the 6lb for bream etc. Just a thought as that stiffer rod may cause problems casting the tiny stuff.

I agree with Chris as a stiff rod is very hard to cast the light sp's and hb's

Why not? When the Barra shut down (and they do), I go and chase Jacks and bream. I don't eat fish so do it for fun. In your sentence tells you why, there are only a few of us that chase them up here and that is why pikey numbers and sizes makes them well worth chasing. I am going in the morning to chase a few Barra but the water temp is well below 25 deg at the moment so there is a good chance they will be to bloody lazy to do anything. At that low temp (and yes it is low for here) the bream are still switched on.
