When To Change Fireline

Hi guys,
I need to know when is it advised to change fireline and put some new line on?
Is there a time frame or any other form of knowing when to change?

you should change it one session BEFORE you lose that 'once in a lifetime smoker' due to worn out line:D

If its looking at bit frazzled as happens when fishing over rough territory, the just wind the fireline onto the original spool you bought it on, then onto a spare spare reel spool or something so that the worn out line is at the top then tie this back onto ya mono backing, then respool ya normal reel so that the unused half of fireline is now the used half. In effect you have just reversed the fireline on ta spool. If that makes sense?? I'm confusing myself...maybe someone has an easier way to do it??

You can do as these guys suggested, and reverse it. Personally I like it really worn - don't have as many problems with loops or knots when the line's limper.

The way I know when to change it is when I try to tie a double and it breaks on me every time! I have bad knot days, but when 10 biminis in a row don't work, I know there's something wrong!

Thanks guys for you feedback, ill respool it as it seem to be the best way to get the most life out of the line.

I agree with chris.
I like my fireline a lil bit old. I hate tying knots with new fireline! I lost a lot of line (birdsnest) recently on a prefish for mandurah with Paulic...so i had t re-tie with fresh fireline....I was getting incerdibly frustrated to say the least! The fact i'd had 2 hoursd sleep and copious amounts of alcohol the night before was a bg factor...but still!

even better completely strip off the fire line and put on platypus super braid 4lb far better product [also Aussie made] i use it so does Ian Miller and even ravin uses it by his web site ,he has written a field test about the stuff.
