PowerPro.com have a braided 8lb line that is the equivalent diameter of 1lb mono!!!!
I have emailed them twice to find out if their product is available in Australia but to date have had no response.
I read, on another American site, a comparison on braids and Power Pro was the authors prefered choice with another line (which I do not recall but was a very well known brand)
The author said Power Pro was made by a group of ex employees of the well known brand and in his opinion was identical in every way.
Has anyone seen this brand on shelves in Australia?

Have'nt seen the Power Pro stuff, but I did look at some other braids that are worth a mention. These were Suffix Hydrofine braid and the Reddington braid.
The Suffix is a heat fused gelsun, but is a bit thinner than Fireline (6lb), but the Redington is a true woven braid and comes down to 6lb breaking strain, well worth a look.

Power Pro, is sold under the Penn Pro Power brand name which Jack Erskine sourced through the manufactor. 8lb is available in 150 and 300 yard spools in Steel Green colour and Hi-viz yellow. Have been using it since it's released about 3 years ago. It does not fluf up anywhere near any other brand of braid. Used Sufix Hydrofine 6lb (sample spool only, stock arriving soon) for most of today and worked very well. Althoug still prefer Pro Power.
Power Pro is been considered to be sold under it's own right in Australia, but only because it has a very strong following in the US.

Thanks for the info.
I got a reply to the emails I sent to PowerPro.com today.
Power Pro is distributed in Australia by Jarvis Walker under the American brand name of Power Pro.
Iwill see if I can track some down.
Thanks again.

Just been to the Jarvis walker site and It is Jack Erskine Penn Pro Power Braid as you said. Not what the manufacturers said.
One wonders about the yanks sometimes!

Jarvis Walker is the national distributor (I work for them), we received first samples for Power Pro at the Sydney Tackle show a month or so ago. As I said the line could be sold under two brand names either way it's the same line.;)
Power Pro is very popular in England for pike, has been on the market there for a couple of years.
