Have you considered giving it a shot yourself? There is some good info out there on it. DohDohDoh sells a book called "The 12 volt Boating Bible" or something along those lines. Costs about 25 bucks, could be worth a shot

Agree, its quite easy to set up lights. Go for LEDs. I just set mine up and it was no worries. If you have someone who has a boat just have a quick look how they have set it up. Dont forget to use good strink wrap or the electric glue. Soldier all your joins.

$580 looks like a mighty rip off !
the lights combined should cost you about $100 and those are LED lights.
I'm not sure about the rules in QLD but here in NSW you have to have the anchor light at least 1m above your side lights.
I just asked a shopfitter who also modifies boats to weld on the side lights to my bow rails last week. Wiring, etc costs me $180 in labour. I also extended my anchor lights from a stubby 40cm to 1m. My polycraft is a bit of a DohDohDohDohDoh to wire hence needing his help. My DIY job resulted in a warning given by the maritime officers last week.
