hey guys
last week i landed a 48cm jack and a 45cm jack on 10 lb leader but when i was checking it it was almost worn through. i went out again last night and got snapped off twice in my jack spot :mad:
i was just wondering if you think i should upgrade leader class or not
P.S i will be fishing at night with palstics and small vibes

I use minimum 12lb for jacks, usually 20 or 30lb.

Yes, go heavier when you keep getting snapped off. Try using 20lb fluoro.

Did you change the leader after you saw it was worn?
If so, I would probably stick with the 10lb. If you've been landing the majority of jacks on that pound, it may have been a off moment.
Although, it couldn't hurt to go something like 14lb etc.

yea guys i think i will go to like 14 or 15lb but im only using 4 lb braid :D
so i will still have a challange landing a big jack :)

Then try getting a sunline V-hard mate, this fluoro is made for stiffness and high abrasion resistance. #4 = 16lb should suit you.

Though it is better to get another spool with heavier braid. :D

If you got the money, hook yourself up with some sunline castaway.
Amazing stuff, 0.6 = 10lb. It should be perfect for what you're doing.
For the record my brother landed his 113cm barra at lake awoonga using 14lb braid;)
Its all about how you use it.

Also, if you do decide to buy castaway. Be sure to give it a quick pull before purchasing. Considering, theres a numbers of reports about sunline producing a few bad batches...:o

yea had a look at that sunline but wayyy to expensive for me i will just go with fins braid and put it on my second spool

fair question, out of everything i've used its the best. everybody who i have seen/known who has used castaway has had problems, never heard of any problems with varivas seabass and have at the moment 7 reels spooled with it and not one has played up. just my opinion chief

Sorry man came across like i was havin a dig? Yeah looks like great stuff, one of the reps came through to our shop and showed us looks like great gear, insanley thin, probably a good idea for people after ultra thin diameter line with for eg. 20lb as oposed to a 20lb that has a regular diameter. I guess my first question wasnt in detail enough, i appologise as i was on a lunch break

I find you don't really lose to much casting distance when using pe 1 and even pe 2 also less knots this should help give you a better fighting chance when chasing jacks. Got burnt something fierce last christmas broke my heavier rod and was forced to fish finesse uped the leader only to be taken on the braid :rolleyes:.
