Hey,
just wondering what styles of jig heads people are using with these soft plastics. These are the main ones i use and trying to get the most action out of the plastic as i am still farily new to all this.
Squidgie wrigglers 65mm - berkley ball sinkers in #1 1/16oz or a 1/8
2" shrimp - berkley ball sinkers in #1 1/16oz or a 1/8
3" minnnows - 1/8 1/0 nitro ( the triangle sorta style ones) also a 1/4 in the same if its deep enough . Have used some of the 2.5gr finesse heads from squidgie they seemed good but a tad light so thinking a 3.5gram may be a better option .
squidgie fish 70mm - same as the minnows but sometimes ill use a ball sinker in around 5gram from the squidgie range.
The only thing i really question is the minnows. Would a squidgie style finesse head give a better action then the nitro style?

I don't know your local conditions (tides and depth) but most examples you have listed are heavier than i tend to use.I will use a 1/16th if the tides ripping or and a very windy day but thats on a 100mm wriggler.

Tide must not be ripping too much if you're using 1/16th.. In the Maroochy I'm often forced to use up to 3/8.

for the plastics listed anywhere from 1/32 to 1/8 will do depending on the conditions. as a rule of thumb use the lightest head you can get away with to reach the bottom without losing contact

I only use TT jig heads for bream, not saying others are not good, Just like the way they fit the plastic and sharpness.
I only use 1/20 in 30 feet of water when its needed. Totaly impossible with a fair wack of current or even wind at that depth.

Try the headhunters they rock and you get 2 more jigs in a pack for the same price ;)

Sorry? I dont know what you meen. Head hunters are TT jig heads ?. I am unsure if I have been using these exact ones I just grab TT size 2 and 1 in 1/20th 1/16th 1/12th the others i dont use enough to buy frequently but always have a full jig box. I do get the big packs if they have them. I like to have atleast 20 of each when I go out.
I use the Gamakatsu roung head jigs for bass, the are strong and slow roll well. They are much better than squidgey jigheads they have that keeper that rips your plastic if you dont get it straight the first time

Yes they are TT's. I was thinking of the HH extreme built on mustard not gama's heavier wire, larger gape ;) I think the starting weight is 1/8 though may be a bit heavy for the die hard finesse boys but seems to work for me.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new jig heads from Dan Stead (Pimp My Lure), they are called Headz and a built on a sickle hook then dan paints up the head a treat. They come in 1/2, 3/8 & 1/4 ounce at the moment but will be doing something in the small weights for us breamers but we will have to wait a month or so for them.

Yeh mate they are a bit heavy, I dont realy have much use for them the way I fish. But I will grab some next time and try them deep. I dont think using really light jigs in deep water is very exciting, it bores me to tears. 1/8th would get me down there quick. How wide is the hook, I would probably fish 3" minnows in real deep water are they no. 1?

hey mate for the squidgy plastics i just use the squidgy ball sinkers for the fish and wrigglers i usually go the lightest there is with a wriggler and iv hookd up to many bream.
and with the gulp i use nitro jigheads mainly around 1/32 or 1/24 i dont really go any lighter or heavier than that if im forced to go heavier ill just move to a calmer spot or where there isnt as much flow
