You know how most soft placcies have that motor oily smell....is there any particular reason for it? Is it ther becoz the placcies are dipped in the oil to move thru the water easily or because of any scenting purposes (??) ?

And another thing about smells, does anyone think scents such as Chumline (particularly) could actually put fish off? I know most of ya would say its a confidence thing...true...but somehow i feel using chumline deters em away :s

I've only ever come across one person who uses Chumline and that's JP (Madsurfe)

I had the good fortune to fish with him in the invitational earlier this year, and as a result chumline is now banned from the team breammaster boat. :p :p :p

The DohDohDohDoh gets over everything and stinks to high heaven. I had to untangle JP's lure once during the last session and my hands stunk of chumline all day.

I personally think it's more of an offshore attractant, but hey... if it works for you use it. Just leave it in the car if you draw me as your boater...

They do apply a lubricant to the moulds which also acts to keep the plastisol supple. It also prevents them from sticking together in the pack. Some manufacturers also use salt to keep them separated.
