Hi I live in Dalkeith so I fish at claremont regularly mostly at night. Flathead as usual are everywhere but bream on the otherhand are a little scarce. I feel using soft plastics in this area is usually unproductive (but then again I'm a breammin newbie) so a little effort + some bony herring strips usually produce one or 2 fish, however the largest I've caught from there was only 35 cm. (sad aint it)
I usually go there for a certain other species *cough* You'l have to come here to find out. Wear old clothes and be prepared to dodge bits of flying black stuff.
The mornings though might be worth a go with some soft plastics but since I usually wake around 11 I've only had a go once so, give it a go!

you might want to stop playing with your soft plastic so much
you could go blind
Guys,
This time of the year it's a good idea to move more up stream. We have been doing very well even as far as Lilac Hill Park. Richo pulled a ripper out of there the other day.
Even our Swan Trust spot has been a bit quiet lately.

Yea I want to go upriver and get into the bream action but I've got no transport so I'l just make the best out of what I have.
Just last night I hooked onto the biggest flatty ever...never seen a flathead's head so big. Actually I was after squid and was trying the prawnstar as they were attacking the real prawns skipping along teh surface.
Anyway I guess I just wasnt in flathead mode I just stood there for 3 seconds looking at the giant head instead of running down the jetty to beach it.
Goldfiender -> sorry i dont get it :p
When people say upstream, what kinds of places do they mean, and are there any exact spots which are good. thanks

Anywhere past Belmont is upstream, but guildford produces as well, which is further up.
Cheers
Richo:p
Thanks for that guys, but just one more small question, what kind of tide is the best for flathead or bream thanks,

Andrew, I like either turn of tide for flatties and rising/high tide for bream.

Ben, Claremont is down Stirling Hwy towards the beach and yes that is where Claremont Jetty is. Even more amazing, Claremont Jetty is located at the end of Jetty Road!!!.:D
