Hi,

I just heard a rumour that fireline might be bad for the eyes on certain rods. Is there any truth to this? I currently have a silstar power tip rod and have no plans to upgrade as this has been a good rod for a few years now. I also have a 3'10" ugly stik but its only 1-2 Kg so would probably be a bit light on for bream.

Does any one have any advise?

Thanks
Eddystone

Over the past few months I have seen many rods fitted with those new very thin Stainless steel rings. These have been the only guides I have ever seen cut by braid. I even argued with a customer for over an hour as he could not accept the fact (fool). In the end I proved to him he had no less than 4 guides damaged by braid in the form of cuts. Knuckles was adamant that the braid was faulty......... it's was just another case of someone thinking they know everything. In the end I gave him a $100 spool of braid and told him to buy a new rod with FUJI GUIDES.

Buy the way also stay away from rods which have guides fitted that have square shouldered rings. When using light braid and mono connections the damaged caused by the knots banging in and out with every cast is amazing, it does cause alot of grief.

See for yourself take a look at any FUJI guide and compare it with anything else and you will understand how this can happen.
