View Full Version : Tuning Sneaky Scorps

Hi,
Bought a Sneaky Scorpion 35 the other day. They're a nice lure indeed. Just curious about tuning them though. The lack of any metal in the towpoint (the towpoint/eyelet is polycarbonate) seems to render tuning pretty difficult as there's nothing 'solid' to adjust.
Any ideas.
Cheer,

I've never had a Scorp that's swam bad, but you can take a knife to the bib to scrap some plastic of on the side of the bib that the lure is swimming to. What's it doing to need tuning.

I have a mate whos sneaky sometimes wont swim. When this happens he just pulls it trough the water really fast and then it goes back to normal
Why would it go back to normal if you pull it fast?

You may find it is just the plastic towing point not "locking" in and pull past fixes it

Hi,
O.K, thanks guys. It's actually pretty good at the moment but was just getting some info should it ever need adjusting. Thanks again.

I bought a sneaky scorp in the gold/orange colour the other day and when I retreive it it swims to the right (ie, looking at it from behind it would swim to the left). Anyone know how to fix it?
Cheers

Got 3 sneakies that no longer get used because they swim like gadaletaaj has described. they swim okay at slow, slow speed but as soon as you increase the speed they rise to the surface to the right. Great lures otherwise
Are you guys using loop knots to the lures or tieing direct to the lure??

Loop knots all the way
Hey guys...
I too had the same problem... chopped the bib of and chucked it in the bin...
Not into wasting my time on a lure you cant fix or adjust.. bit of a shame cause it looked like a winner...
If you work out a way to fix it Im all ears..

U guys ever think of taking them back and saying they dont work
OR go to kmart or BigW and try to take it back to them cos they r easier to convince if u dont have a docket!

Well guys i have noticed at Kmart the latest Halco Scorps the orange and gold. The orange is a dodgy coloure its like its almsot like fading or just a difrent shade.
if u compare it to the old lot its a heap difrent.
U think Halco is lowering its standerts????
or just one big bad bach?
Na..
Im giving up on them.. id rather use.. deceptions, lil rippers or attacks (still my favs)

I dunno if its just me or wat...but I find scorp 35s too light to cast well...but then again, someone has to get me addicted to hardbodies first! Softies are waaay to fun :D
O and if ur finding dodgy sneaky's, just go get other lures! They all work I bet :p

oi dont say halco are lowerin thier standards as they are very quality indeed, i went on a tour of the factory and it is very hands on, lures are still hand painted(gt jigs ne way), and they are specially welded and any ones that leak are chucked out, and id say you got unlucky, halco r the only lure iv caught a bream on.
so ill keep on using them.

halco make beautiful lures and it must be i got a bad one. anyway, I was speaking to Steve Starling and he said just bend the toming point until it is straight and swims right
