hey guys i wanted to know i am new to breammaster and i just wanted to know whether any of uguys used swivels when using sp's and hb's for bream?
thanks guys
Hi Breamman, I think you'll find that most guys don't use swivels at all. Just tie your leader to your fireline (double uni knot is good) and then use a loopknot to tie your plastic or h/b on.
Having said that, I've read on some american boards that if you get into dropshotting plastics you may need use a swivel as your rig is more likely to spin in the water.
Cheers

Like Jimi said bream man give swivels a miss for 99% of your bream fishing. Theres no such thing as a stupid question asking a question can save you a lot of time sorting the problem for yourself.

When I first started, before getting onto this site and others, I used swivels. No probs catching flatties etc....but no bream at all. Just use a uni knot and loop knot as suggested.

Not unless you are fishing weedless carolina style. they upset the balance of the hard bodies and are too visible for either hb's or SP's
Double Uni knot is easy to tie and works a treat without having to tie a double.
Check out the basic knots book in the Online Store. It was the one I bought when I got into the sport and still carry it in my tackle box.

some guys do use snap swivels in small sizes.most bream lures float and a small snap gets them to sink, would help in a few particular situations.
a few people use fly clips which give you the advantage of changing lures quickly without having to tie a knot, not 100% reliable though but a good option as they weigh next to nothing and dont effect action if using the small size.
as other guys said most people use a loop knot.
I used to use a small swivel when fishing with harbodys and caught alot of flathead but i only ever managed to land 2 bream.

Hey Breamman,
as Warren said you dont need to tie a double. Just tie a good uni knot. Double Uni Knot (http://www.leadertec.com/knots_fishbend.html)
hope this helps

I remember reading one of my pop's old fishing books/mags and a guy was modifying a fairly large swivel, with a hook on the end - and using that as a terminal lure to catch bream !!!!
This mag would've been 15-20 years old; but was interesting to see that back then - the idea of bream on anything other than a prawn was unheard of ! how we have changed !!
Gday.
I use the smallest of snap swivels (just clip with swivel chopped off) and can say that it has accounted for every HB bream I've caught. I dont use them on softs but always on Hards. It is a personal preference thing...but I can say that I've stood next to guys who aren't using them and the catch rates are the same so it's up to you!:D
