Hi all,
Has anyone used Atomic SP's much??? I've used the shad profiles with a fair bit of success with salmon. I haven't used SP's on Bream yet but plan to this summer. Are there any Atomics that stand out and how do they compair to other brands?
Thanks
Eddystone
Sliders in pumpkin shrimp, muscadine and camoflage.

Hiya...
Atomic 2' fat grubs is all I have used since trying SP's for the last 3-4 months and haven't caught 1 fish. I don't have the knack, but I know of people who have great success on them.
...Cheers
Shane
HI Shane
Atomic 2" grubs are great on bream. I don't think bream really cares much about brand names. I've been using the brown crawdad with chatruese tail to great success not too long ago. Another good colour is the avacado glitter. Actually 75% of my 2" grubs are atomics. The shad works too but not as well as the gurbs. Another good brand is the storm rattle grubs with their innocative rattle in the grub. Dave W did a thread here somewhere expaining his success on them. What matter most is the colour and size.

I've had a fair bit of success on the 1.5" or is it 1.75" atomic paddle tails. Green Gord being the favored of them. (exact same color as the yellowish/green side of the muscadines.) But I gotta admit I prefer the sliders. Haven't tried the atomic fat grubs yet though, but will be my next purchase. they look good.

I have caught bream on everything from the 1.5" craws right up to a 3" fat grub. Stand outs for me would be the 2" fat grub, the little craws and the 2.5" paddletails.
These were all the rage 6 months ago and a lot of tournament anglers still won't use anything else.

2" Fat Grub in the Motor Oil Gold is one of my most succesful plastics. It's the first one I always reach for - if I can find them amongst the other 2 million plastics in my bag (hopelessly addicted :D ),

One of the favourite colours in Qld is Crawdad ( brown) in 2 inch Grub.
The trouble has been getting stocks - though Warren was able to help me out.
I have come across an annoying problem - cracked tails. This on three separate packs - different colours, different stores and two different sizes. I expected more from a premium brand.
Atomics say they are made in the USA - true But I believe they are an Australian Brand - not sold elsewhere. This means the importer orders in batches - so supply will always be lumpy.
Having said that the backup and service when I had an issue was absolutely 5 star - many companies could learn from these guys,
True USA brands, like sliders and Squidgies seem to be a better manufacturing standards
But I believe that it all comes down to the angler skills. Having watched Ian Sewell in action - he could beat me with a hand line and a blunt jig on a plastic bottle cap.
Still - it is fun to collect all these colours.

They are manufactured in the USA on behalf of Offshore Sports who own Atomic. The brown crawdad is a very very popular colour and sells out time and time again. Even the distributor can't keep it in stock.
Warren.
ps. Gary, squidgies are Australian designed and I believe they are manufactured in Asia somewhere. I could be wrong but I'm sure that's what the original literature stated.
thanks Warren
I muddled my thoughts.
Squidgies are an Aust Brand - made in China ( says so on the pack) , in a factory that also makes products for US brands. or so I heard
Theoretically squidgies could run into the same lumpy supply problem if they order in large batches.
Atomic Crawdad is the only one I have heard of having shortages- and that after " Tim the Bream" announced how well they did for him in comps"
I believe that the same thing happens with small HB lure manufacturers - a colour works well becomes popular and sells out.
We have an incredible array of choices in lures - and that is great. The downside is that sometimes there will be out of stocks. No tackle business - wholesale or retail can both stay in business and at the same time hold so much stock that they never run out. And no tackle store = no fun!
thanks Warren
