Had the recent good fortune to have a few days down at Busselton on theoretically work related business. Top spot and home to The Breammaster. Hard work breaming though, and managed to land far more red wines than fish.

One other pleasant aspect to this trip is that it takes you streaight past the front door of Millard Marine, co-sponsor of the BREAM events here in WA. Stopped in for a chat to the boys (they sold me mine) and tried to figure out whether a 50hp would go on the back of my 385 Explorer. Apparently some technical and safety issues according to them but it doesnt hurt to ask:)

Also had a good poke round while there - if you cant find a tackle store the next best fun is always a boat yard.

Stumbled on 2 outstanding bargains they had hidden away. Given the number of guys I've had asking me lately about starter set ups for new boaters I thought I'd post some quick details:

Bargain #1 - 4.0 Savage Jabiru with a 25 2 str and floors @ $4350. Nice vee punt and a top starter unit.

Bargain #2 - 435 Hornet, 40hp 4 str, low floor, front deck @ $9,990. Loved this one and would have liked to take it away on the spot. My wife however had given me strict instructions that I wasnt allowed to tow my boat down so Christ knows what trouble I would have got in if I had towed one back. Seriously though, it needs a complete competition fitout but its the bones of a super bream vessel.

If you're thinking about a boat, give these some thought as well.

Top little boat. I'm just designing a fit out on a new 435 for the Millard guys at the moment. 435 Hornet (non trophy), will have 2x7' rod lockers, full walk around casting decks, 150 - 180 litre live well plumbed, battery storage, built in 80 litre fuel tank, personal storage area and a reinforced transom to take a bigger motor. Should be an awesome little boat which will retail at around the same sort of money as a trophy, but be fully decked out for bream tournaments.

The 435 trophy is only a tricked up tinny, and is expensive considering it's no more beneficial for breamin than the bare bones model. The small rear "livewell" wouldn't hold a sixpack of beer let alone a bream, and quintrex won't fit a large livewell like a 445 trophy in the front storage compartment for us.

We asked quintrex but they said no. Don't know why considering the 435 and the 445 are the same hull except for a maxi transom welded on the back

Anyway, it should be a top little boat when it's finished. Hopefully we'll have it at the WACA boatshow with the spaceframe in but no decks. Guys will be able to see the layout and get some idea's for their own boats.

Warren.

Hiya...

That little punt sounds cool, might have to start saving my pennies.

Just wondering, I am not allowed to store boats at my place. It's a strata title thing. Does anyone around the Belmont way store their boats in storage sheds and such? and if so how much.

...Cheers

Shane

Yeah Warren as you know Quintrex arent that flexable with some options due to the size and the amount of models they have..I mean you could imagine wot it would be like if everyone wanted to customise the different models to suit a specific need...However after saying that millards are going to be trying to make a boat to suit your needs so if you guys have any more ideas on top of Warrens we are all ears and will see wot we can do... Btw at this stage it doesnt look like the boat is going to be available to take to the show ...so maybe you can see it on the water with BREAM KING (Warren) behind the wheel. Well thats wot he tell us u guys call him..:p

I'm going to campaign the boat this season in the comps. If you want to see the finished product up close, come down for a look in October at the Mandurah boatshow. We'll beach it after the weigh in and you can have a good look over it. We can even take you for a run in it so you can see how it performs on the water with a full livewell etc.

I can't wait to see it finished.

Warren.

I mean you go around looking for that perfect package, having to settle for second best or something that requires more money spent on it.
Again, "Millards" are proving to be the best boat yard that looks after it's customers and provides a quality service, you guys are definately getting my business.
The only place you can get a tricked up Hornet that you won't have to pay through the teeth for:p .
Cheers Guys Geoff P
