Whats the usual going rate for a bottle of this stuff in WA? Ive used a full resevoir almost with god knows how many hours on the water. At this rate i may be doing the 300hr service long before 3 years.

Also if anyone wants to do an XD 100 bulk buy in WA im happy to go in. Tosh probably will too.

Back on track....
In the East the average is about $60 for 1 US gallon/ about 3.8lt
sometimes comes up on special for about $50

Hi,

I assume Xd100 is some type of oil? Is there any reason why you can't use anything else with the same rating that may be a little cheaper? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Cheers
Tim

The engines are programmed to run this specific oil mate. Running anything else when its not programmed can damage the engine. Its the top of the wazza high performance oil from BRP and the ETEC motors use very little of it too. Spending the money on the XD100 is worth it in the long run, but obvioulsy its good to shop around.

Hey Dude,

Not tryinmg to be smart or anything, but who mixes the oil for BRP? Do they state that on their bottle? I have been in the power equipment game for a few years and a certain Manufacture says only use their oil but at the end of the day it is mixed by castrol. It's a clever way to make money i guess. It's the same with ATVs, they state use their oil but once you look closer in the workshop manuals the oil isn't anything special. Anyways i guess all manufactures are like this, it's how they make there millions after the sale:D

Cheers
Tim

Meh I dunno, but its programmed to run the stuff and im not voiding my warranty for saving a few bucks on oil.

Once out of the "run in period" a manufacturer CAN NOT void a warranty for using oil other than theirs. I'll assume XD100 is a TCW3 oil which means that so long as you use a TCW3 there is nothing they can do about it!

Guys I'm sure there is the oil deal on for dealers at the moment. I just stocked up on 4 boxes as the twins go threw it pretty quick as it's an offshore trip every time for me. At around $50 a bottle it's worth getting the little ones instead of the drum which is a bugger to pour with.
Boats 12 months old and just clocked 170hrs on the suckers, new set of plugs and oil plus filters, no way mines going 300hrs before service, that's just crazy talk!

GregL i here you about the offshore boats. I haave a single and at an average of 100km a trip i chew a fair bit.

When i did the maths of getting the drums I actually found it was the same price. I get the small 4L ones now a lot easier to handle.

No run in required- its an etec. And no XD100 isnt a TC-W3 oil.

And if the mods could make this thread back to what it was- an XD 100 bulk buy thread it would be great. This threads being hijacked stuff is getting beyond a joke.

You can always just get a manual pump for repco or the like, cheap and easy.

Like I said, "I assumed" it was a TCW3 because all Etecs leave the factory with a TCW3 oil map and are only changed once in the hands of the dealer, which coincidentally sell xd100.

Anyway aim of my post was to point out that no manufacturer can void a warranty for not using their oil :).
