alright i'm not new to the sport of catching bream but i am new to using soft plastic lures. i have been catching and releasing black bream around the bassendean area for about 5-6 years now but i have always wanted to try to catch a bream on a softy, i am very intereasted in starting and probaly coming addicted to the sport of catching bream on lures.

i need to get my self started and i'm intereasted in finding out some of the better / best soft lures available and i'm in the market for a new rod and reel.

any suggestions :(

cheers adam

Hi Adam,
Rod and reel selection can be pretty personal. What can suit one guy may not suit another. A good idea would be to pop in and see Geoff at the BreamMaster store and try a few different outfits with rod and reel. A rod can feel very different with different reels so try a few.

Plastics?? Well, where do we start. There are a lot of plastics that will catch you fish. The best idea is to try a few different types and go from there. There are plenty of references on the plastics forum to help you along.

Good luck.

With a rod for plastics...make sure it is soft at the tip - not sloppy but has plenty of poke in the bottom half to 2/3's of the rod....if your shorebased perhaps go for a longer rod around 6'6 (castability) but personally I prefer a shorter rod for plastics...around 6' (accuracy and manourvability)...but yeah go see geoff and try a few out...

The two things I think you should do are:
-go into the bream master store and sort out your gear
-read as much info as you can on these forums

Do this and you'll be fine.
