I'm planning on doing a 4WD course in the next month or so. After searching for companies locally here in Perth there are heaps. Can anybody recommend a good one that they know or have dealt with. Cheers!:)
Hi mate
Try Eureka 4WD - I went with them a few years back and the guy who runs it (Ray Harris I think) is quite well known in the industry. We did one day in the hills and one on sand - really good all round experience for novices......
Give us a shout if you want a navigator!
Cheers

Yeah no worries daz. I did see that company and it looked OK. I found one called Austracks aswell and they do the All terrain (2 day) both bush and sand for $295. Its also a camp out over night which would be fun with a few beers. The only problem is im not sure if they charge per car or person. But ill definitely get in touch and you can tag along!

Ill give it until then end of this month for people to throw their name in if interested, and then i will have numbers to hopefully get some good prices. Howz this sound??

Yeah sounds good Pete. The guys you mentioned are the cheapest so far. I was only planning on doing the sandy terrain on the Sundays as the Mrs works sat and i have the bub, plus my 4WD is gunna be mainly on the beach. Did everyone else plan on doing both Sandy and Rocky terrains on just one??

I'm definitely in for $230! I'm in 100% for the 9-10th Jan course and doing both days! December is a writeoff as its holidays, and Nov is unmakable for me. How is everyone elses timetable??
Shame about the campout though. I'm sure we could camp somewhere ourselves as motty said, lets just make sure the drinks are kept to a safe level for the next day.;)

Now that we have decided on a date, are we all interested in camping out the first night? Pete i know that the camping out option is canceled atm when the 2 day course is run, but i assume a few of us can do our own thing and campout? and i guess you guys can turn any pisswrecks away the next day. and where abouts is the Sandy Terrain day run? we will need to find that out so we can look for places to roll out the swag. Im all for a campout as i wanna make it a wkend to remember. Oh and if anyone is keen on the campout and doesn't have a swag i makem for $100;):D

I don't mind a campout on the beach, except the first day is the Sandy Terrain course and depending on where the next day is run depends on where we set up camp. We don't wanna have to drive miles from the beach in the morning to get to the next course. Hopefully Pete can tell us how far apart the two Terrains are. Pete where are you!:) Beach camp would be nice, might be able to get a few Tailor for the campfire;)

Rito guys i have a bit more info. Go to the following link....
http://www.ultimate4wdtraining.com.au/planner.htm
and fill out the details for the All Terrain Jan 9-10th course. You will be sent back a confirmation with meeting points for both days and a registration form which you can bring on the day with the $ if you do not wish to do a bank transfer. I have been doing some research on camping areas and have found one that is maybe 10 min away from where we meet for the second day. I assume everyone will want to drive and camp in the immediate vicinity of where the second day starts as opposed to camping near the beach and driving miles the next morning? The following campsite looks the goods with power, showers and toilets and is only $7ea per night, i have rang the campsite and swags are allowed. Geoff who runs the course said the day ends around 3-4pm so we have plenty of time to get to the campsite. Can i get some feedback and numbers guys as i have to book us in, its popular this time of year and on wkends.

Could be a problem this weekend because of the total fire ban. No driveing across the padocks etc. because the exhaust can start a fire. I think it will have to be postponed.

Was absolutely brilliant Pete, shame you couldnt make it. Learnt a lot of stuff that is fully worthwhile, great instructors and a really relaxed atmosphere. I reccommend the course to anyone that wants to imrove their knowledge and skill. Some of the hill stuff today really gave my Pajero and me a workout but the old girl did well. I have a few scratches to buff out though:(:) Old boofheads 6.5lt Chevy in his troopy was awesome. He only had to go into low range at the end of the second day, and then blew a tyre, poor boofhead:D Anyway great course and i will be coming out mid year when the inland day is more muddier and wet, Geoff said we could tag along free of charge. Great 2 days and thanks for the dicount Pete! I will get a Utube account open in the next day or so with some good footage, so ill post up the link.
Heres what not to do in a Pajero, not my Pajero by the way either.

Shina69 seemed to get in a lot of trouble and nearly wond up in the drink on the beach. I only went in low one where the paj was grounded and i went over the climb but buggerd a maxis mudder tyre. Rims Ok so alls good. Had a lot of fun and would like to do it again in the wet. The other pic is of lake leschenaulta where me and squidgy man stayed the night.

The rock that frogy is pointig at is the one that got my tyre lol. The PC is a beast with the 6.5ltr chevy motor in it. Power to burn lol. Truck needs a wash now and a new tyre and it will be ready to do it again. Hopr your back gets better quick pete, nothing worse than a crook back.
