The news around Augusta is that Trevor Price is out netting upstream of Fishers road and Malloy Island.
Its obvious that he is targeting Black Bream as mullet and whiting are found on the flats.
You would think that he would have more thought for the future fish stocks after the damage he did last season.

It really sucks that recreational netters (about 15 in Augusta) are limited to the same bag limits as the rest of us but Price is allowed to take as many as he can net. (No limit at all)

In addition the 15 recreational netters are limited to the area between the hospital boat ramp and Fisher road but that commercial Pric can net the entire length of the river.

The imbalance does not stop there recreational netters are not allowed to net during the months of June July and August in order to protect the fish aggregations? But that commercial price can net every night of the year. But why would he when he can wait for June July and August to take advantage of the aggregations.

It really hurts to see such a great sport fishery destroyed for the paltry amount of $8 a kilo on the fishmongers slab.

I will be writing to the minister again and again on this issue demanding we see a more equitable distribution of the resource and I ask you all to do the same.

Cheers Millie
