View Full Version : Mandurah Classic - hints and tips
Hi all
We are entered next week for the Classic but have never fished down there before. We are going down for a recce this weekend but was wondering if anyone could recommend the best/ secure ramp to put the boat in?
Anything else we shoudl be aware of when fishing Mandurah for the first time?
Cheers

Where do you want to fish? Canals or River?
Not sure as yet!! Thought it was mainly inlet/ river - wherebaout are the canals - are they off the Murray somewhere?

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time! Perhaps google the area and make a decision. The main Mandurah area has a few ramps which will give you quick acess to the canals in the Mandurah area. Mandurah Ocean Marina ramp (next to the club where the comp will start/finish next week) or Lesile st/Waterside Drive ramp as convenient to northern crew.
I have always been happy to use any of the boat ramps available.
You also have Serpentine and Murray rivers which meet the estuary at the same point. Murray also has canals. They both have 5 knot speed limits. Average times are MDH - mouths 20 minutes. Murray mouth to upper reaches give or take an hour.

Id launch at Murray Bend, and head up and down from there. Then if you want to look at the Canals maybe trailer your boat over there as well and re-launch.....
cheers
Thanks guys - exactly what I was after

Throw the same lure as Dror. Stand like Dror, wear the same clothes as Dror eat what Dror eats, tie the same nots as Dror, cast like Dror, wind like Dror, speak like Dror.......This should see you do well.

yeh that would about do it phil
I reckon going way up and throwing small deep diving gold hardbodies kicks butt. Then again its a long way to go in a comp. Unless there is a safety concern when crossing the inlet, all launching will be in town so its a long drive across the inlet and up to murray bend.
I guess we will be at the weathers will that day and see what happens.
