Just wondering how many of you guy's use INOX and if so how generous are you with it? Aparently it is not supposed to turn the fish off but....hmmm...not sure on that one!
If not, what do you do to your reel...just light oil or grease and oil or something else....just curious - especially about the INOX.
Hi Herds, for general protection of my reels, I usually spray them with a product called tackle guard, that is made by CRC. I generally give the important bits (bail roller, handle bearing, any other metal bits on the outside) a spray with it every couple of trips. I always wash down my rods and reels in freshwater after every trip though.
Tackle guard supposedly doesn't put the fish off. It seems to have an aniseed smell which is probably how they mask the odour of the oil.
If you spray your reels and then wipe them with a cloth and then leave to air overnight, most of the smell will go anyway, whatever product you use.
Cheers
James.

Hiya...
With my current setup I don't go hardcore with the lube. But watching hooked on adventure(?) with Steve and Bushy. Steve was pushing the INOX, and when he showed ya how to do it he went hardcore spraying everything.
...Cheers

I attack my important parts with a little bottle of oil purchased from Urban Angler... I also lubricate my reel with it! :D
But seriously, it was only about $3. I can't tell you what it's called because the label has come off, but it's a clear bottle and the oil is golden brown.
