Hey guys, as winter is coming up fast, its time to put away the surface lures and I need some lures that get down to the bream fast. I have the usual soft plastics but I'm a big fan of the metal blades and R2S baby vibs.
Does anyone have any info on what colours are good or how to fish them?
I currently just use them like a soft plastic, lift and drop but haven't had much luck except on the tailor and flathead.
I'm open to any other lure suggestions too. Thanks guys
Brendan

Thats all i do with my baby vibes.
Just a lift drop lift drop with some added hops in there to mix things up
Blades and vibes i find i carnt go past anything from VX'S TO ZIP BAITS and TT'S.
Im sure there are more company's that make these lures but the ones ive mentioned do the job well.

hey, just wondering what is the best lure for stud bream and jig head size.
Quinny,
Try a 1/32 #4 jighead with a Jap Green Berkley 2" Power Hawg.
Time and place - Choose an area that has notable signs of nipper holes, on a run up tide two hours or so before high, fishing one or two hours into the run out, preferably towards the late afternoon into dark. Steer away from a full moon, preferably five to ten days before full.
Technique - Once the jig hits bottom, wind up slack but allow a slight belly in the line, rod tip pointing straight at the jig (as i have had a number of great takes as soon as the jig hits bottom or shortly after).
Then use a slow lifting up of the rod tip so that the bait drags along the bottom slowly. Wind up the slack as described above (remember to pause at this stage for a moment). Then two short sharp flicks of the rod tip, of about one foot or so. !!!!Important that you pause again until the jig hits the bottom!!!! Continue this pattern until the jig is retrieved.
Repeat this for each cast, fanning each cast from left to right (or right to left, whatever suits you) to cover as much ground as possible.
Hope this provides some help. I know it sounds like a bit much but am unable to describe in any fewer words and has worked well for me in the type of areas as described above.
This works well from land or boat.
Let me know how you go.
Cheers,
quinny

used like most other bladed vibes just short hops along the bottom...with pauses...i get alot of fish hit whilst they are just sitting on the bottom or falling thru the water column...

Now your asking a bit much!!!...try these;),
1- From a boat, skirt around Watts reef (very snaggy but worth it) also flick towards the container wharf (problem here is getting close enough before somebody tells you to move away!!)
2 - Land based, try along Silvers beach using the method explained earlier. At the very least you should pick up some great flatties.
This weekend doesn't look good as the wind is pretty bad but you may get a few hours when it eases off, just when that will be though is another story.
Good luck.

in winter instead of blades although they go good i like to use a 1/12 jighead with a 2 inch gulp banana prawn on the flats and on weedbeds where the fish are staying warm, it lets it get down deeper. but in summer i would use a 1/20 - 1/32 around canals, fallen trees, rockwalls, and pontoons. some people think that they need massive 5 inch jerkshads to catch massive flathead but me and my mate had a double hook up on a 64cm flathead and 80 cm on a 1/12 jighead and 2 inch gulp banana prawn:) also lately that the new swimming mullet in nucelear chicken has been going goodi have been using a very slow finesse action with a light 1/28 hws jighead and have caught a fair few flathead biggest being 60cm.
