G'day everybody i've been trying to figure out this web site for the past couple of days at work (boss is away in USA so i surf all day, knock off and go fishin) and i think i've finally got it figured out. i'm a bit new to coastal fishing and this seems like just the place to get some advice. I've been getting a lot of fish here in north sydney but the trouble is that they're no where near legal size and the big ones i do pull in are either eels or porkypine fish. I'd love to here from some of you hardened breamers and maybe even learn something:)
cheers for now Dan

G'day Dan, WELCOME to the site.:D I'm kinda new here as well, I don't post too much but I LIKE TO WATCH!:p Ha Ha Ha.
Where are you fishing in North Sydney?? Do you mean the "northern sydney" area or North Sydney itself? Stick to it mate, you'll start to catch good fish.
If you are using plastics/lures keep everything light, especially this time of year when the water clears up a bit and the bream get a little timid. You mentioned getting eels, are you using bait the majority of the time?? Again, with bait fishing stick to 6-8lb leaders/line and as little sinker weight as possible. Also get your baits/lures near or even under wharves, pontoons, boats etc. This is normally where the big guys are.:) Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Wacko.

Thanks for the advice Wacko i'll give it a go this weekend. There's this old sunken boat about 20 something meters long half in the water half out on the shore at sawmiller reserve in sydney harbour just west of blues point. Do ya reckon if i got on top of the boat and throw some SPs out from it i'll have any luck. Theres a nice little weed bed just out from it too.
