Quick question peoples, I went for a fish last Sunday afternoon down on the jetty at the Old Brewery. it was about from 3pm onwards and it was an outgoing tide. I only had some 1/32 jigheads and was having trouble getting the plastics down to the bottom. What size jigheads do you guys fish when the current is moving to allow the softy to get into the stike zone, is that strike zone at the bottom at the moment? Is too big a jighead going to put the Bream off or will it just deter from the action of the softy? I am still battling to land one on a Soft Plastic and need some advice, would I be better jigging straight down next to a pylon or should I retrieve the softy bouncing along the bottom parallel to the jetty or structure I am fishing. I changed to a Deception Palemon in Flouro Pink and pick up two small Bream about 21cm from the 5 or 6 pylon's to the left of the Brewery, at least all wasn't lost for the arvo.

Bundy obversiously you don't have a boat but I do and I'm not proficant with SP'S either so how about you and I get together after july when I get my minnkota [tax return ] and we invite a better exponent of the arts [say mr Blanksby] and try our luck.

If you two bears asked "bear" to be your mentor for the day you'd only need Goldilocks for a fairy tale session on the Bream ;-)

Bree Maddox, Miss Kornakova would settle for quite a few goldilocks actually!!!! Thanks for the offer Peter I would appreciate that a lot. Any tips on jig head sizes though boys I want to go buy some today so I can go for a flick on Sunday.

1\16 to 1\32 is what we've been using the most, but a few have been using 1\8 around fast moving water like Canning Bridge. Having a range isa good idea, but try 1\16 first and see how you go.

Bundy, really you need the lightest possible jig that will allow you to sink your placcie without it getting blown away by the tide.

1/32 is my fave for still conditions, allows for a really natural float down.

1/16 so you can still go light, but with a bit more punch if the wind gets up.

1/8 in case you want The Narrows but the tide is ripping through there as it does.

Hook size is another question altogether, but pick something thats going to suit the size plastic you're using. Another option will be to ask Geoff what he thinks, then you can always blame him if it goes wrong:D

Thanks for your help guys, I was using the 1/32 as I thought it would offer a more natural look and from the sounds of it that is right. I think from what I read I will buy a couple of packs of other sizes and just trial them and see what works best for me. Thanks for your help. One last question, do you use a loop knot to attach the plastic or a Uni knot straight on to the jig, I currently have been using a loop.

Bundy, I used to use a uni knot, but have been trialling a loop instead. I think its made some difference, its probably worth persevering with. I've also been going a lot more with Spike It, particularly the Gamefish scent, and while I cant say conclusively that I've caught more fish because of it my feeling is that it does do something.
