Mine's a bluey colour because water is blue and the sky is blue, therefore when the fish look up they can't see me !
What's your colour and the logic for choosing it ?

Mine's multi-coloured. Greeny-blue at the nose blending to sunburnt orange on the tail.
It's pretty ugly really but I got it second-hand for a v.good price.
I'm yet to christen it with a fish..hopefully they're not too repulsed by it!!

Mine's red. Would've liked red/yellow one (think tequila sunrise) but got an okay deal on the red one. Red ones go faster (if I paddle really hard...)
I figure that fish see thing differently to us so who knows what colour is best. The silhouette and shadow probably have more influence on them that the colour. I recall that about years ago Quintrex made boats with dark brown bottoms as research had shown that this was less visible to fish.
My choice of colour was really a safety issue. I'd really rather be visible to other boaters and if anyone ever needed to search for me I figured a red or yellow kayak would be easier to find then blue/green/white.

g'day bluey,
i'm with yaker on the shadow/silhouette thing, dont think it really matters.you mostly cast away from your boat anyway.
both of mine are two-tone.one with a yellow top, white bottom and the other blue top, skin tone bottom.

I take Tony's point about a brighter colour being more visible than a background colour and for this reason I always wear a bright yellow PFD in the hope that the jetskiers and waterskiers who inhabit my local waterway will see me or if they don't at least I will float if I get capsized.
If the silhouette/shadow theory is right then lets hope that the really big fish (the ones with the pointy teeth) don't mistake us for a seal or a giant lure !

My kayak's dark green, dunno why I chose that colour? I like the sunburst (red/yellow).
The canoe is blue/white...
Dont think colours matter to much as long as your quiet.
As for jetski's that use me as a slalom buoy, I usually keep my slingshot & some sinkers close at hand for the warmer months

Bluey,
Visited to tourist centre at Seal Rocks on Phillip Island (Victoria) a couple of years back and in their shark display you could look up and see a silhouette of a seal alongside the silhouette of a surfboard with arms and legs hanging out either side... plenty of food for thought there.
Ol' slab sides,
Have you tried casting at the jetskis? That first run is awesome! :D

Might have to buy a 20kg plug rod & specialize in jetski's...;)
Hey I could even start my own web site & call it "Jetskimaster":D
Only they wouldn't be gettin released until I gave em a bit of rough handling;)
