Just got back from the land of beauty (Walpole) and had a really relaxing holiday with Andrea. We did a little fishing but really got out and had a look at the surrounds of this stunning wilderness area and was surprised by all the things we missed mainly due to my fishing compulsion.
l cant stress enough to those maybe fishing the ABT RD 2009 to maybe take an extra day and feast your eyes on the marvel of nature that is Walpole and it's many treasures.
Happy New Year to all hope it is a good one for you.

Cheers Steve & Andrea.

Photos only tell some of the story that is Walpole.Enjoy the visual feast...:D

Almost forgot to say...;) After a tonne of rain the system was ice tea on arrival and my first days fishing was a little hit and miss ,but a little snooping around found the culprits hiding in the "Lipton" tea and then the fun began in earnest.
Like l say fishing did take a back seat this time round but the times l did get out were even more special and the fishing non-stop.Took a couple of the breamaster crew out after meeting the guys on the river and lets just say the fish were willing but some of the crew...:p Well let's keep that one a secret hey stretch.:p:D:D "Yep lm on...yep...awe...yes...nup...mmm...ohhh...nahhh... ewww...Bugger.":D A little piss taking was had by some (me) but all in good fun...good to meet the guys and have a laugh.l hope your parents didnt kill you when you got back so late guys,l know l wasnt the flavour of the month when l got back to Rest Point round 9.45PM with Andrea standing on the bank wondering wether ld drowned or something after saying ld be back round 8.30PM.Woops...The torch light was handy when l returned though she was like my own lighthouse...needless to say she was'nt happy Jan.How could we leave a good bite though l told her and all was ok."not".
Managed at one stage to pull 10 fish off one snag and many bust up's in between.Really awesome fishing. You can see the livewell water and see how dark the water was feeding the Frankland from up river in previous pics.

Cheers Steve.

nice one steveo, great report.

we did a simillar thing at augusta, only fishing for 3 or 4 hour at a stretch and spent the rest of the time snooping around....... including a swim at hamlin bay which resulted in one lost wedding ring, sigh, thank god for insurance.

blackwood fished a bit tougher than i thought it would, still managed a bag each trip but is was sort of a fish of a 1000 cast.

no pics to report but.

Boss there are haps of various places to stay in Walpole just type in a search...we use Rest Point as it allows you to keep the boat in the water the whole time ready for action.lt's about 420km from the CBD to Rest Point.Nice dragon fly by the way.

Just keep moving up and down the river Jigger.A sounder really helps locate the fish. All my spots that l caught fish at were sounded up.:cool:l struggled in the lnlet and stuck to the rivers.Their are fish at the mouth to the ocean but not in the numbers l prefer for that location.Plenty of skippy and king george out in the inlet though.

Cheers Steve...

Couldn't have said it better Steve. We spent the whole 2 weeks at Tinglewood Chalets. Ideal spot just out of town and great location. Did a fair bit of fishing, but did a lot of the tourist thing as well.

We had the opposite luck Steve, couldn't find reason to get off the flats and with 80+ each sessions there was no reason to  Bring on March, and next Chrissie.

Dam l tried for a couple of days on the flats for very ordinary results mate given the location.Your effort makes a couple of my 40+ catches fishing deep hole's seem a little tame now:o:eek::Dso much to learn still it seem's:eek::rolleyes::o:Dwhat was your secret weapon?
Not that I'm complaining 40+ fish off deep snags is indeed one to remember.:D
Well done on the cricket scores mate...l must have been fishing the other Walpole river flats.:o:p:D

Picked up most fish on lime tiger frys, camo and new penny worms and brown trout 52 scorps (thanks Richo). We learnt a few years ago, fish where the waves are breaking and that did the job. Had some great runs with double hook ups a plenty and heaps of bream around the boat.

Was great sight casting to the schools and seeing them dart across the shallow water.

Sounds like you had a cracking time steve, great shots of walpole out of fishing, Myself and duncan had some pretty lousy fishing, wading out waste deep up and down the channel didnt have its benefits with fish few and far between. Personally my fishing left on the same road as it did up in the snags with u lol...copped the "yes ..no...aw..bugger" comments all week from duncan:P
Cheers for the great time mate

Yo Salmo,

Geoff and I had a good session on the flats down that way a couple of years back. Late arvo, incoming tide, Smith jerks (being jerked hard). Landed three between us from memory and jumped another four between us. Frankland side of Coalmine....more towards the mouth than the reefs/rocks around there.
Spose they could be on any flat though...They were swimming with mass schools of bream.

yep yep.

Cant help mate never landed G Herring yet anyway...:D Hope to in the future though. As for the bream l got a lot on Atomic 2 Fat Grubs in Avocado (gold flk) and motor oil(gold flk).As bear stated the gulp 6inch pulled a heap of fish too.l used bloody, camo and natural all with good results.
Hardbody's didnt factor for me as l spent most my time in deep water.Hope that helps a little.

Haha I know who owns that boat now.

Did you check for scratch marks on the bottom of the hull RC?
