Not too long to go before the first Bream Classic event of 2009.

There have been some changes for 2009 with the series expanding to five qualifying events - two of those are at Mandurah (24th May & 11th October) – and the inclusion of a Team of the Year trophy to reward consistent performance (still working on the points allocation though).

You will be interested to know that I have changed the location of the 24th May event to Mandurah – at the Offshore Fishing Club – and also note that in the interests of trying to spread the Grand Final cash a bit further around the distribution will be:

Grand Final First place - $5,000
Grand Final Second place- $3,000
Grand Final Third place - $1,000

And there will be a Random draw for a prize of $1,000 cash + Sponsors Product - all series participants will be in with a chance (winner must be present at the draw).

There have been a couple of changes to the rules so please read them carefully.

The entry form should be up on the Classics web site very soon.

So get ready for the first qualifier on the 15th February starting from Matilda Bay.

Paul

Some of the reasons are:

The 5th April event is only a week after the ABT Walpole so needed to consider those who have already spent a fair bit of time travelling;
The facilities at the Mandurah Offshore Club are fantastic and the facility was available on the 24th May;
The Offshore Club wanted us there;
Feedback from the competitors at the last Mandurah qualifier was very positive;
And it fits with other commitments I have :eek:.

Trent

Same as last year ($130) if you get your entry in before the close off date otherwise it is $140.

price rise was for the ABT two day events (boaters catagories). dont forget you need to enter and fish the classics as a team ie boater/nonboater

why should they rise the prices on abt events and by how much ?
big travels down south is already enough money used up on juice and accomodation ??
be interesting to see how big the fields are in 2009 :o

Check out the Bream.com or Fishing monthly web sites for discussions on the entry fees to ABT.

And just remember that if the fields are not of a decent size we may not have ABT events here at all!!!

higher fees, higher prizes....i think it sounds good. as for people that cant afford it there are the classics and future social events through clubs or the site. sounds like everyone is covered:)
