View Full Version : Okuma Californian 20
Hey guys
has anyone used these or looked at this?
What are your thoughts on this?
Looks the same as the epix but fewer bearings and slower retrieve.

I've been using one for about 9 months and it's not too bad. It's spooled with 10lb braid and have used it for pelting metal at sambos, taylor, and stripies, so it's had some solid use. Still in one piece and the drag is still nice and smooth. The chrome towards the back ofthe body is starting to wear off, it's just chrome paint over plastic, but the fish don't seem to mind ;)
Cheers,
Gab.
some good feedbacks
This reel is quite new in WA, and it's in similar price range to the avengers but with a bit more niceties. The spare alloy spool is a bonus which is what I'm looking for. I like the epix's shape.
Fisholic, have U look inside, is the gearing quality the same as the epix?? If they are I'll get it.

I your concerned as to whether its the same quality as an Epix EFS 20 why not just buy an Epix. The price difference is only $1. :D
They actually sell for under $100 elsewhere, not like Campbells.
U see I'm after a reel with average retrieve speed.
Okuma makes slower Epix called the EF range.
But it's not available here.
Does the epix EFS comes with spare alloy spool??
and does anyone know where in WA is the "slow" epix available?

ar_hon,
Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on for a while.
No, I haven't had a look inside, sorry :( but I just got a new epix 20 and there really doesn't seem to be that much difference between the two, from what I can see the drag system is identical on both.
Cheers,
Gab.
