I'm heading off to inverloch (vic) for the queens birthday weekend and thought I'd have a go at the bream and estuary perch that are in Screw creek. I was wondering if anyone has some good ideas or spots I should try?

Anderson's inlet fishes well and you could always take the surf rod to Venus Bay. Great salmon beach when the conditions suit.

Thanks guys.
I had planned on taking the surf gear, I love lure fishing for sambo's, particularly on Williamsons. But getting up the creeks is always nice and peaceful and the problems posed when you hook up around the snags can't be beaten. I'll try some of those Atimic 2" sp's. I'll let you know how I go.

G'day guys, here's the promised report. Due to all the rain the creeks were flooded and dead. Didn't even get a follow in Screw creek. The sambo's were impossible to find in the inlet. We span on various tides and times, no result. The beaches were an absolute mess. We resorted to bait on Monday. After pumping bass yabbies we went to pensioners point and caught a fed of whiting. Hopefully we'll have more luck next time

Mike I have found the the soft plastics work a treat on the Large Sandbanks in the Inlet when other spots are fishing poorly. As the tide runs and leaves a couple of feet of water over the flats the large flatties take over. I used to drift a ganged pilchard under a float with plenty of success but now I prefer a nice whipped shad. The snags opposite the boat ramp also produce estuary perch at times on plastics when you can't get up the tarwin.

Gidday guys
am a newcomer to this sight , but the ears pricked up when the old familiar names of Tarwin & Andersons inlet where mentioned as this is the area I grew up and spent many an hour fishing the Sth Gippsland area.
do the big mullet runs still occur in the Tarwin and how are the ep's these days? , they use to be quite hard to find. Do you guys target the trout further up the river.
Look forward to some more info on this area, cheers

I was born in Korumburra and never caught anything when I fished the Tarwin. Love Venus Bay though.

Fished the tarwin Wednesday and Thursday last week from the Kayak, water was terribly discolored and full of runoff rubbish. One hit for one small EP in 2 days fishing. This is what the Tarwin can be like, its on or off. Never and inbetween I have found. Screw creek was a little better on the Friday, 3 500g ep's and 2 small Silver Trevally all on atomic pumpkinseed baby craw on a football jig head for some action. Trevally surprised the crap out of me never seen them take SP's before, plenty more hits but always hard work in the small confines at screw creek.
The powlett river should improve for Bream fishing on SP''s soon with the mouth at the surf to be breeched by the council in the coming weeks.
