Guys i am wanting to know the downside of the coloured spike it... Apart from making every sp the same colour. I will be fishing 90% bream, 10 other - salmon flathead etc
whats the best sent for the salt, - bream
regards
Dude I've seen two 1.6 kilo bream caught on the Gamefish in the last month or so. Plus I've caught about 100 bream or more on it in the last 6 months. I'm even dipping my rear treble in it and bream still hit it.
I'd definatley reccomend it. It does change the colour but I just dip the tail in. Check out the pic below, gets the thumbs up from me!:D
and Kurt.s 1.6 on a slider in the gamefish.......
Convinced yet?:D

Do you guys really think the scents are worth using? Do they catch more fish?
It would be interesting to know how they are tested.
My personal opinion is that it is heading back towards bait fishing when people are using scents!
No offence - but what is to stop people soaking the softies in whale oil or in with a bucket of prawns and competing in the comps?
Hope this doesn't open a can of worms!!!
Doc
Good piont Doc, with scents they definatley do work, all bream & bass tournaments won on the east coast in the last year or so were all using scents. Tim Morgan and all the boys use them.
Sewelly also used them to come 3rd at the Perth round.
The rule on scents is that you aren't allowed to use anything that is living or dead, so whale oils and berley oil and stuff like that is not allowed. Artificial scents are allowed, it's a good idea casue if you banned scents it would be very hard to police.
As long as it's artificial it's okay.

Scents do have their place and have certainly accounted for some good fish for me as well, but you'll still catch good fish without em'.
I used some plastics in the Sydney Bream classic unscented and got good fish, and at the same token, I used some with garlic scent and also got good fish.
I found during the comp weekend, as the water got slightly clearer each day, the fish were more and more responsive to the scented plastics.
And one thing to note, a lot of the new age plastics about are already pre-scented, so you've got no choice in the matter!:p
I'll keep using em' (scents) but I don't swear by them.:)
Wacko.

It's interesting to here that all the top anglers are using the scents.
Is it just a matter of dipping the SP or lure once and - cast away?
Or is the scent re-applied on a regular basis?

I use clear gamefish scent mostly & I am happy with the results. The last couple weeks I have been trying the prawn scent from Ecogear & I'm very happy with that.

Ira,
What is the story with Yum and their LPT (Live Prey Technology) scents, aren't these based on natural enzymes?
Their ad blurbs says:
"LPT simulates the release of live baitfish enzymes, which trigger the feeding habits of gamefish."
Is the key thing here 'simulates'?

Hi Everyone
Do people use the 'spikeit' on the hard bodies. I have thought of using the spike on soft plastics but hard bodies? Never tried it has anyone used the scents on hard bodies.
Stuie_02
pw-bream, it's still okay, I know Halco use real fish enzymes in their catch scent and that is allowed, you just can't use berley oils etc

I think blowies aren't fussy they just eat them with scent or without :D You know of course that plastic manufacturers & retailers have trained blowies to do that.:D They eat people as well I had 2 toes bitten today. Little buggers!
