Hi everyone,
After witnessing the final day's weigh-in at the NSTE tournament on Sydney Harbour I realised that we have an amazing bream sportsfishing venue right here on Sydney Harbour, and that I know next to nothing about bream fishing! :( But the best thing about it was that it was so well organized and promoted what I think is the right message regarding conservation of our dwindling fisheries resources.
My fishing background is primarily lure and bait fishing for pelagics in the lower reaches of Sydney Harbour, Broken Bay, Jervis Bay, and some marlin fishing.
I'm looking forward to learning about breaming and hopefully get involved in a tournament or two :D I think the BREAM tournament format is the way of the future and will only grow, maybe to also be applied to other species as well (bring on the inagural Kingfish Classic .:D )
Cheers,
Fishaholic.

Welcome Fishaholic...I'm sure you'll meet plenty of passionate, helpful individuals here with tonnes of knowledge - make sure you have a look through past posts and the archives (you'll learn heaps there)...
Have you actually caught a bream on a lure before?
This is an amazing sport and you meet heaps of really genuine, fun people! By the way what's your real name?
good luck to ya

Thanks Andrew, I've been ploughing through past threads and the wealth of knowledge here is incredible!
I've caught bream on lures before (hardbodies) but haven't really targeted them exclusively.
My real name is Gabriel. (friends call me Gab.)
Cheers,

I'm stunned it's taken 630 odd users for someone to take that user name.
Welcome aboard Gab.

G'Day Peter,
I had the pleasure of meeting DaveW the other day at the NSTE final - seems like a very nice bloke, quite knowledgable too. I'm sure he'll sell his boat easily, it loks like a very competent rig. Unfortunately I'm in no position to consider owning a 2nd boat.
I love my 5.3 Truck and plans are afoot ;) If the theory works in practice then I should end up with a reasonably competent bream boat without losing any offshore capabilities, alloy will be cut'n'welded over the next few months, that's all I'll say about it for now :D
Cheers,
Fishaholic.
Nice to see a few of the boys with some bigger boats.
I've got the 4.65 Angler at the moment. Not sure how much longer I'l have it though. got it up for sale atthe moment.
Moving up to the Stinger next. this thing is something different.

Bear,
That Angler is a smick looking boat, what size electric is on it? and how does it handle the wind with that much freeboard?
The stinger is a very interesting hull, it's reminiscent of the original boston whaler... the 13ft trihull developed in the 1950's, which IMHO is still a fantastic hull even by today's standards - way ahead of its time.
I heard Stessl are looking to develop it further and expand the range into bigger models, with enough freeboard to head offshore safely! What deck layout will you be getting? (I'm guessing the side console?)
If the initial tests are anything to go by then we may be seeing a lot more of the stinger type of trihulls from different manufacturers.
Cheers,

I've got a 55lb Rip Tide on the front which handles the work no worries. I've actually found it handles it pretty well in the wind. You can see the rails under the boat, they actually fill with water which seems to make it very stable both when moving and drifting in the wind.
I've got the side sport console on the Stinger, haven't decided how to do the rod lockers yet.

Most guys had their rod lockers on a vertical rack attached to the side of the double hull where i came from , of course most of these boats arent double hulled so um dunno maybe you could look at rigging some sorta vertical locker that hangs off the bottom of the guard lip...
also
Ive also noticed that most boats and i would expect yours to be the same, have an open plan interior... Is this due to their dual sea/estuary use. Would a raised decking be of any use?
Note the pic of the ranger i posted above.
