I am looking at hitting the beaches a bit more now that I have a 4x4. Would like to upgrade my $30 Rexy 12 foot combo to something with a nice action. I would like something to throw HB's/Slices/Mullies for lets say around $200.
I have an old thread line reel so that will do for now until I really get into it.
Cheers
Shane
Not sure of the exact $$, but the new Shimano 2 piece graphite rods are superb. I checked out a couple Mullet has and they are very nice rods.

GL with it. I think it is pretty hard to find a decent beach rod. I bought a cheap graphite one off ebay. 12' gillmaster 2 piece. I am yet to use it but it only cost me about 40-50 bucks so I wont be complaining. I'm sure it will be better than other rods int that price range out there. I have a 9' starlo stix and that is pretty nice. It has plenty of power and I can't see you wanting to cast any further than i do with that rod. Once again I haven't really used it enough to know how it truly is. All I know is that it casts the old slices an absolute mile.

With Justin on that one hard to find a decent range of longer graphite rods in Aus, I have 2 that I bought when I was in Japan a 2pce Ryobi Entertainer 10ft light action and a Daiko Premier 10ft medium action, the range of these type of rods there for Sea Bass plugging in Japan is enormous.
Great fun chasing Tailor, Salmon etc of the beaches and rocks with lures:D

The Lemax series of rods are good, for $149.99 you can pick up the 10 foot with a cast weight of up to 120 grams. Well worth a look.

Shakespear have an agility IM7 range that has a 12ft rod in it, also a 10ft. I played with the 10ft rod and found it too light seemed to be designed for light float fishing I think. The 12ft was better can't remember the specs and in the end didn't buy it because I have used my big rod once in the last 7 years so didn't feel upgrading was worthwhile.
Only thing funny about the rod was it wasn't the standard smooth taper all the way up the blank. On the top section of the rod there was a step sort of (taper was smooth then for about 1cm got really steep then back to the standard taper). Probably haven't explained that well. Did test the blank and it wasn't noticable in the action much, but can't say I was concentrating hard as I'd already decided I wouldn't buy it at that point.
MO Tackle have them at around $100 to $120 mark last I looked.
Hope that helps

Here is the one I bought of Ebay

As I said I still haven't tried it. I noticed a member on here says he uses Gillmaster custom rods. The guy that sells them on ebay has a store in mandurah. I had some troubles getting the rod as the courier lost it. A couple of months later it turned up. If you deal through this guy ask for insurance on the shipping as the one he uses doesn't provide it and he did not want to take responsibility for the package not arriving at my door step.
If you want to try the rod out you are more than welcome.
