Heading out for a fish Sunday morning early (5:30am) 'til around midday. If you're keen for a fish drop me a PM and we can arrange something.

Aww man... I guess now that I have a boat I really shouldnt try to come out on the new boat Bear ;)

I was thinking about heading out around lunch time, wind is predicted to drop off then. Might see you out and about.

How did your day go Bear? I saw you out there again. I was at my usual haunt. I'm lazy and don't move around much but its easy fishing where I go and there are always fish there. If I had a boat I would probably explore the river a bit more. That wind was terrible wasn't it!!!

Shocking wind mate. Add to that we were sharing the water with jet boats and a tonne of other craft and it was interesting. Didn't have much luck in the bream stakes, but caught some pretty good flatties with the biggest around 50cm. Was good to get Nath out and we tried a few things he hadn't done before, good day either way.

its amasing how much you can pick up from just watching & fishing with someone who knows what they are doing

its made me look at the way i fish and where i fish

I went out Sunday at mid day, was a bit pissed about the sailing near Windan bridge. I wanted to get some stats for maybe scoring a new prop.

There was a huge school of small bream along Burswood mingling with the mullet. I found a few hidden dangers along that stretch I have never seen before. Didnt score anything to write home about, but the flattys have moved up river and arent small.

Been wanting to get onto some flatty actually. The only thing I hate though is a decent one will make a mess of your leader which means some high maintenance fishing. Would love to get onto some the size of the species they have over east though.

Shane,

What dangers are you talking about?
I know of the shallow spot half way down that drift.
Always keen to know what to avoid.

thanks Gary

I came across a couple of large rock out croppings. I was about 10 metres off the bank heading up river and saw a very large rock bank on my port side near a channel marker. Also a few just before the golf course drain. I just found it strange because I have fished that stretch in my old boat and in Carol's boat alot and never noticed them before.

Shane

Thanks for the reply ,thats the spot I was talking about.
Very shallow on a low tide, lucky you found it the easy way.
Not many will tell you it's there you can guess why.

Cheers Gary

There is one rock\concrete area in fron tof the ski club where there is a drainage outlet. Lots of nasties and one to be aware of for sure.

Yeah alot of fish where hanging off it, but only small ones. I am not one for hiding spots :D Might change when I fish as a boater next year but I hope not :D When starting out you waste so much time finding good spots, I'd rather people new to the scene hit the fish fast and hard :D Teach them some manners.

So Shane, where should one fish down the Canning :D Never really ventured out there before but will have to try next year and have no idea where to start! Also where is a good ramp down that way; it's going to be a long hike all the way to Maylands Boat ramp!:(

Ramp, dont know ;) You should just buy Leon's boat ;)

Canning, the Canning bridge or Mt Henry. Mt Henry 2nd north pillar. The little bay near the Mt Henry, it has a wrecked boat in there up the back. Any of the banks.

the bay area is that where all the boats are there is a little jetty with a bench on it that i have fished more than couple times that i have pulled some decent fish from (mainly on bait before i discovered lures)

Thanks Shane but it looks like there may be no fishies left when I get there next year huh!;) Buy Leon's boat :D can't even afford to enter comps no more! :( Now I should get that Gulp boy to take me out for a ride in his new 'whatever' eh cos that's his home town not to mention he owes me a ride eh! ;)
