I was just sent some 2.5 inch Ecogear Mini Tanks & they look great! I reckon the local bream will go them hard so I can't wait to get out & test them. I also have some of the new powerscent capsules to try as well. Will let you all know how they go.
I have been using the larger tanks for a while and they seem to attract a larger variety of bream. I was saving a couple of packets as my secret weapon for the second day up at Forster but as we know it was cancelled:mad:  :)

I tried them out this morning for the first time & I had also put some of the new prawn scent on them as well. I got a 32cm bream first cast :D Then another about the same a short while later & a 44cm flathead. Getting a fish first cast on a new type plastic is the way to go :) Instant confidence :D

At that larger size they look like yabbies/nippers, they should work well. The smaller ones are a bit ambiguous looking, I'd thought they were most likely taken for crabs.
One day I'll get some of each to try.

I have been using the small ones as well for a while & get good results too but I get a lot of small fish as well on them. These bigger ones seem to get nailed quickly by the bigger fish. I watched a 32cm bream charge past the small ones to grab it. The bream season is just starting here at last so I'll be doing some experimenting.

Hey Ravin,
How big are the 'heads' - would they be a similar size to a 10c piece? maybe bigger?
The reason being is that i'd consider using them as crabs by cutting off the body - the rock crabs in the swan are around that size.
cheers

I was thinking the same thing about cutting them down. Maybe on a small standup jig with it's claws up so it looks like a crab that's trying to fend of a big hungry bream. I reckon chuck that near some structure and just let it sit on the bottom.

The head section is a long as a $2 coin is wide & about half the width. Funny you should mention taking the body off :D I tried that after the body of one was torn up & I put it on a Gamakatsu Round 211 in size 2 & it sits perfectly. I got a fish that way as well.:D

Thanx Ravin,
Is the 2.5" a new release here in Oz? - I'll see GeoffP or check with Warren if they'll be getting em in the store (they've got the lil ones)

There have been a few around but I think they have been ordered from OS. Tony from Ecogear has brought a heap in so they will be more available here now. I hope BM will stock them they are going great. I have done well on the little ones as well. It is a bit too early to comment much on the prawn scent but without saying too much too early its looking very good to me. More testing to be done but I like it.

Hi Ravin,
2.5 Tank is available since the first time I brought in Ecogear into Australia along with Grass Minnows, Paramax etc.
I think at that time people still don't have faith on it. I think now more and more people are aware these tanks are fish taker and work just as good as Grass Minnows and Paramax single tail for bream.
It is just a matter of time to test all the methods and technique for different style of soft plastic lure fishing.:)
I have been testing them really hard !!
enjoy fishing

They are really hard to find to buy & none of my local tackle shops have any at all  They haven't heard of them which is a worry.
