My employer gave me the day off so i could celebrate my passage into the 1-year-off-from-30 club. It being a Tuesday i didn't have anyone to drink with or party. The Bureau of Meterology forecast a fine 28 degree day so i decided to do some breaming. The lack of wind, clear skies and low tide practicly ruled out any real chance of scoring wading the flats. Therefore the Mini-X was summoned from the den (shed) and prep'ed to be mounted to explore some deeper water. I paddled and drifted about my local hood and managed to produce a few blackies both on sandworms and ecogear. The morning was made even more speacial when Mr Flipper decide to swim rings around me and say hello.

I went for another paddle today with the good old bream as my target. A five minute walk from my pad and the yaks in the. A bit windy every now and then but with the pick gabbing ok bream were on my cards. With a bit of hard work Mr Blackie and his mates made visit's to my mini-x. At the end of the session it was an arm flexing slog into the wind . If i keep up this paddling, I think my fiance will be happy with my new guns!

A good yak will cost you over $1000 new. My Mini-x has no peddles, i didn't want a yak with peddles because i want to get the exercise:)

Glad to see a thread in here. I love the idea of yakking. I want to get into it but can't justify spending the money at the moment. Lets face it $1500 on the yak and another 300 on roof racks for the car and it is starting to get a little bit expensive. Keep up the good work. How you finding the blowies in the canning?

Does anyone know if you get carp or any fish at the far upper reaches of the Canning near the deadend of it? I heard they may be some? If so I may get a yak too! And by the way, Mainpeak in Perth currently have yaks on special.

Thanks:)

I have a Perception Swing - nice boat, nice finish, but hasn't been updated for 20 years - if you go that way, hang on for a few months - rumoured upgrade imminent.

I also have an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 - please have a look at these - fantastic to fish from.
